Fitting undertrays and wheel arch liner

Featured Replies

Hi,

When I bought my car I didn't realise it had some undertray damage.

Anyway it needs the following:

Under tray : 22.31

o/s wheel arch liner : 27.43

Screws: 0.31 x6

Clips speed fasteners: 0.32 x6

So thats just over £50. For Skoda to fit it its around £150 including parts.

So is it a difficult job to do these? Would it be a lot easier for them with it up on the ramps (which I don't have!!).

Basically, would I be best of saving £100 and attempting it myself, or just leaving the whole lot and saving £150 - what kind of difference do these trays make?

Cheers

Ollie

Its a doddle! If you can get the car high enough off the road then you can do it easily. There's NO WAY i'd pay £100 to fit a plastic undertray and liner

If your close to me, i'll do it for £25   :) :P

im running without one. its more to do with sound deadning! mine got ripped off after slamming it! if your running at standard height you'll have no worries about smacking the sump either.

wheel arch liner is kinda needed if you have a standard SMIC as dont want crud flying up into it. thats easy to fit! just whip the wheel off and put in the millions of tinsy torx screws!!

RE undertray - you could invest in some car ramps.

I remember seeing some cheap somewhere (not halfords) for around £12.

Arch Liner - you could get some cheap axle stands for a similar price, might aswell get a trolley jack whilst your there?

All tools that are investments for the future.

Cheapest solution: no ramps, just need a curb. Stick 2 wheels on the curb. Plenty of room underneath unless it is lowered.

That said, Halfords do a nice set of axle stands and a jack which is a good investment. There are cheaper/better ones out there probably, but it happens to be what I purchased at some stage, and they're handy for definite.

I've just done mine, took less than an hour, but I think you'll need to get the wheel off for the liner. Undertray can be done with the car on the ground. Part nos:

6Y0809958E - wheel housing £27.43 + vat

6Q0825235E - dampening (undertray), came with speed nuts attached £22.31 + vat

Part nos are for a 1.4 16v, could be different for a diesel. managed to keep my old screws.
