I have finally fitted my universal FMIC.

The intercooler is the same fitted by Martziniuk, but I used 2.25" piping instead of the 2.5" pipes used by Martziniuk.

I am really happy with the results & I can tell a positive difference with It fitted, but I can also tell there is slight turbo lag, but I expected to have some with all the extended piping.

A big thank you to Martin for all the help & replys to my numerous PM's:thumbup:

SWMBO has found out and is very displeased. I told her it wasn't my fault, it was the nice man from briskoda, but she's having none of it. :(

Very neat mate see all that effort was worth it wasn't it ;)

It looks to sit a bit higher up the bumper than mine, is this just the photo angle?

  • Author

Possibly could be the angle of the photo or It could be the lower brackets holding it up a bit. I never noticed it.

So you didn't copy my beading tool in the end .

No, but we had your idea & a pair of mole grips in reserve if the relic didn't work very well:D

That looks like a very professional install. I think my TDi could do with a setup like that, it certainly needs something to avoid the heatsoak in the summer months.

Is there any chance you can put some URL's up to the package/s you bought to complete this?

Matthew

Nice! So far I have the MAP sensor pipe and no other bits :D

Ha ha,

Oz I told you you would get lots of offers... hope your Pm box is big enough ;).

nice install but it looks a bit small.

It's about twice the surface area of the stock intercooler but about a centimetre thinner.

The intercooler is the same as Martziniuk's http://briskoda.net/octavia-i/200-fmic-fitted/128958/3/

The brackets that were made have mounted the intercooler slightly higher up. Something I overlooked when mounting it, but easy to correct.

Nice job....... and you didn't need to use any strews!

Very nice bit of work that. Looks like a quality job.

It just seems like that pipework is insanely long and twisty! Is there no way of bringing the pipework off the compressor housing around the other side of the engine, then down directly to your FMIC? Downstream of the intercooler is fine, it just seems like your going from one side of the car to the other, then back to the other, then back again to the drivers side! Guess you can blame the lag on that! What you've gained in cooling efficiency you've probably lost in flow efficiency.

This is what I mean (can't remember who's car this is!):
