Driving Position

Featured Replies

Does anybody else find the driving position in the Fab vRS a bit uncomfortable?

The seat is back as far as it can go whilst still allowing me to reach the pedals, steering wheel as far away as possible, and yet when I'm driving the wheel still feels too close, as I can't stretch my arms out fully.

Noticed this the other day when I drove a new Fiesta - it was much more comfortable to drive.

Also, the seats are too wide and have no lower-back support! They do look nice, however

I think it's spot-on. More comfortable than the Focus Zetec I used to have actually, could never get 100% comfy in that.

I have to agree about the lack support for lower back, it's not as good as i'd hoped - especially on a long journey. I do suffer with my back though anyway, so it might well be fine for most other people.

I actually need the seat further back than it'll go in honesty as my legs are a little cramped (i think you can adjust the rails but i don't wanna turn my car into an iq style 3 + 1) but I still find it pretty comfy, especially with the clutch foot rest for long trips.

I make the 3 hourish trip to london 5-6 times a year and a 45 min drive to work everyday and have no problems. I've noticed my seat slowly reclines itself over time but as long as I sort that no back problems.

Having the steering wheel at full stretch isn't a good thing really, I find it better to have them slightly bent... more comfortable for me that way at least. The further I tend to sit upright the better my back on the longer trips, and the better the control on short ones ;)

I find they offer no support (only a lowly 1.4) in cornering and you have to sit off centre to be infront of the wheel. Could just be me though.

Yep, me too! My Focus used to give me a bad back, but my Vrs is perfect for me!

I picked up my Fabia today and I think the seating position is great. Driven quite a few cars and never been as comfortable as the Fabia from the off. Cant wait to get back in and drive some more :)

I'd agree with that too... when i've had hire cars when being serviced i've slipped all over the place when cornering even moderately fast

No problems for me, though I'm not very tall/lanky. Then again I don't think you're SUPPOSED to have your arms stretched out fully when gripping the steering wheel. I think that might be considered a bad/unsafe driving position that would quickly become uncomfortable after an extended drive.

Your wrists hould sit on top of the steering wheel with your arms out fully straight and 9 times out of ten you should be more upright than you are

I agree with this, its the correct way to set up your position. You will then have the best position to control the steering wheel. If your arms are straight when holding on to the s.wheel at 1/4 to 3 then you must be chav in a Corsa.

When I first sat in the car I felt that the seats were too hard. Now I have got used to it and find them comfortable. I find it annoying when a garage or someone else drives my car and moves the seat back or forward. When my father drives it he only drops the seat base so it is quite easy to get it back right.

The only annoying I used to do is, after using the clutch, I caught the back of my ankle on the slider handle. I don't seam to do it nowadays.
