Another Newbie! Which Tdi to buy...?

Featured Replies

Hello!

Looks like a very welcoming and informative forum! Wish I could say that for others I have used!!

Looking to buy a MK1 Octavia TDi, (2002 ish. 2-3k).

Which model/spec to go for? My only must have is A/C and a manual G/box.

90 or 110BHP? Is there much between them? Is it easy to tell which is which?

Many thanks!

Welcome to briskoda, might be best to post in the Octavia 1 section for the peeps in there to advise which is the perfect octavia for you.

Hope you find the one you want.

Welcome to Briskoda

110 does 0-60 slightly faster than the 90 but they get about the same mpg. You can get both the 90 and 110 with air conditioning, the spec level you want is "Ambiente", or if you go for an "Elegance" it will have climate control plus lots of other toys. Happy hunting

Has to be a 130 bhp 6 speed :)

hiya & welcome:tipspecs:

Hiya.

On that age you want an Ambiante (90 brake, air, 15" steels) or Elegance (110, full climate, 16" alloys). There's not a huge difference beyond that the climate really is "set up and forget" unless you need demist mode, which is press a button.

Thanks for the input guys. I am now having a chnage of heart and thinking of digging deep for an extra couple of grand and going for a MkII instead.

These come with PD engines I think? What year will the first MkII's be?

Sorry for all the Q's but am new to Skoda after driving Audi's for many years.!

You'd be on a late mk1, or early mk 2 with a 2004 car. With the mk1 you could be looking at an L&K with the PD130, and 6-speed box.
