Octy VRS or A4 TDI??

Featured Replies

we maybe even had a dilemma rather than a dilmer!

I take it the A4 is a 130 or 150 tdi? These go well and are a great engine, but comparing to a vRS, they are totally different.

As for the MPG I get, it is bad but I am normally always on boost :D

There were no Audi 150TDis so it's probably a 130.

Yes there was, but it was the 2.5 V6 (which got upgraded to the 180bhp with quattro) not the 1.9 in the B6

My B7 cost the same as the equiv. spec MkII Octy with the equiv. FSSH, warrenty and condition... from an Audi dealership , you don't always pay inflated prices.

people still think that a Skoda is an Audi for less money?

eh ?

eh ?

this type of comment:

Do you want to pay several grand for a badge, and through the nose for shag pile carpetted showrooms when you get a service? If so, buy the Audi.

people really do seem think that a Skoda is the same as an Audi only with a different badge and higher price tag whereas your Audi didn't cost more and is most likely nicer

Oh yeah.... I whole heartly agree.

I've genuinely never seen an Audi that wasn't several grand more than a Skoda with the same size, engine and kit. I just don't think that nicer plastics that I almost never touch are worth the extra money. If you can show me some Audi bits that are actually better made, rather than just "feel nicer", go ahead.

How about the entire car ? I've had both and believe me the Audis have been better put together.

Not in the B6, the 2.5TDi non quattro was 155 or 163PS.

See, when I look at them, I just see more pointless bling like chrome edges on the instrument facia (look, the whole cluster is covered by one piece of plastic, not separate glasses, so stop pretending), and the TT's alloy vent surrounds. When I sit in them, the whole experience is spoilt by the over-hard seats, and the steering wheel rim in either needs a grain leather cover.

PS is not direct equiv of BHP... and yes I even got it mixed up;

The B6 came in 2.5 TDI Quattro (180ps / 177bhp), 2.5 TDI FWD (163ps / 160 bhp) and 2.5 TDI FWD (155ps / 152 bhp)

Those crazy Germans ;)

The A4 is a pretty car, no doubting that, however unless you get the Avant, the Octavia beats it on practicality, the boot on an A4 although large is not nearly as versatile as an Octavia (hatch or estate).

If I were doing more than 12000 miles a year I would go for an A4 avant, with a 130 bhp pd engine. less than that I would without doubt go for the vRS. Fuel consumtion of a standard vRS isn't so bad, 28-32 mpg around town, and about 37 mpg on a run.

Depends on mileage and your budget, don't forget the Skoda should be cheaper, how much fuel will that saving buy?

As for Sat-Nav one hyphnated word Tom-Tom! Can't beat it, a millon times better than MFD!

My brother in law has an 04 A4 avant s line 130bhp tdi and having driven that and the vRS, I prefer the vRS. I find that it is much more responsive and the seats feel much more comfortable.

I suppose have a test drive in both would be a good point also!!

It's something like 100PS = 97.7bhp DIN.

It's because PS is measured at a different ambient temperature and atmospheric pressure IIRC.

If you want a drivers car get the Skoda vRS, simples!

Audi A4's have no soul. They are just a car.

A Skoda is like a friend. A lovely Eastern European female friend. Who will do things to you that a German girl would never even imagine!

For the love of God man, get the Czech wreck!
