Octavia II L&K

Featured Replies

Dutch,

What does a Pegasus alloy look like - couldn't find a picture of it anywhere??

If Octavia 2 is anything like mine, subtly lowered is OK - I am finding a lot of speed humps a problem with my Eibach pro Kit lowering - around -30mm!!

Cheers,

John.

Are we missing the point here - Skoda are offering a "sports suspension" upgrade - think they have actually been listening to communities like our own, where they realise we like to modify our cars to be more sporting? Who knows, could be the thin end of the wedge, might be more "enthusiast" mods on the way to the accessories brochure....

And it bodes well for a VRS model in the new lineup (even if it ends up as a diesel....)

Especially if it ends up as a diesel!! :D

John, these are the Pegasus alloys and the car on the picture is similarly lowered as the one I saw with the 17"-and-sports-suspension option.

It is lowered, but only by 10mm or so, I'd say.

I agree. The very interesting remark made by my dealer was that it was done to mimick and/or counter Volvo, that offer a similar deal. He seemed sure that the design lines and build quality of this car would tempt people away from the less practicle and infinitely less roomy S40/V50...

Now does that mean that they will launch an Octavia II 4x4 that would be the direct opposite of the forthcoming Swedish Haldex rival that is the S40/V50 T5 AWD? :D

Dutch,

Thanks for the pics - wheels look OK, could probably do with a subtle body kit to complete the image!

Cheers,

John.

One subtle body kit as requested...

Haven't Audi been doing "sports" packages for years? The only thing sporty about them being the name? :D

Rob.

Rob, the very fact they are calling it "sports" means that they are actually listening to their customers, whether it is any good is another matter, but at least they are not straight onto the phone to skoda UK to invalidate your warranty when you mention you'd like a sportier setup..

(or, to quote Neo "mmm... upgrades")

(thats Neo from the matrix, not our own littlecolin! :D)

Thanks Ian,

So subtle it was almost over my head! :D

Nice! The only thing still missing is the subtlest of rear spoilers - the 4x4 hatch lip. :D

That, or they've looked at the sales figures for the vRS and said "we need more sports-aspirational branding"...

That's a question of perspective, I guess. The standard suspension was even more "comfortable".

I'll try to winkle out of my dealer which subcontractor is doing the sports suspension. My guess is Bilstein, which isn't at all bad.

 you did ask for subtle! Rear valance was extended but kept black, sills were extended, front bumper extended and all body colour, and B-pillar anthracite trim applied.......

There was an official Skoda lowering kit in the accessories brochure when I bought mine in 2002 - price was about

Howard,

I saw that kit listed when I was considering lowering my L&K.

When I made enquiries via Marlborough in Isleworth, who also had this advertised on their website, the service manager was very apologetic and said it was either unavailable or not suitable for 2003 models!

I would rather have had an official Skoda lowering mod to avoid any possible warranty issues, but Eibach it was!

Cheers,

John.

  • 2 weeks later...

..if it's anything like 'sports package' on the latest passat.. phh

its pure marketing

I would have thought it would have been the vRS legs (or at least a variant of such). Was about a 20mm drop from 'standard' IIRC.
