Because you can I guess!

No idea but i hate those sunroofs.

Me too.... They look tacky!

If he owned the car from new, why didn't he just order it with a real glass sunroof?

If it wasn't for the sunroof, it would be a minter!

painfull just looking at it mine would never end up like that

Webastos are OK, much better than a regular sunroof, brave cutting up and SE to do it, but hey no worse that writing one off which plenty have done.

I quite like it. Hot sunny day, sun pouring in, smart. Winter = no no

It's just to perpetuate all the joke about skips, I guess...

That's one nasty piece of vinyl - fine on a 2CV for sure, but really what's the point in a car with air con? After all, that's what people who actually live in sunny countries use... :rotz:

People actually like the sun....

Why have wind down windows then, when you have doors?

Likewise, TBH. I think the only time my windows get wound down is when there's condensation on the outside, like this morning! And no sooner are they down than they're up again!

After all, unless you live somewhere that you don't have to share the road with anyone, then the air quality as you drive along will be so poor, you'd be well advised to do whatever you could to make sure the air you breathed was as filtered / conditioned as possible. But then I suppose my attitude to my car being little more than a functional form of transport is rather different to others' - hence my opinion on stuff like CF engine covers that have no performance benefit, and you can't even see! :P

But each to their own...

Might as well be a CAT D once you've done that to it.

so you can collect your KFC drive through

Lol. Well each to there own eh. I wouldnt do it to my own car like, let alone splash a grand on it

Utter Waste

Saw something similar on Pimp My Ride last night. Was a van with a hot tub in and one of these so you can star gaze

Yeah, there is pretty much no way this could be put back to original. Might be worth putting this on the Ltd Ed Register as a write off!!!

I just can't understand why someone would spend so much on a car new, spend more on a sunroof, only to make it worth less. :bawl:

Doesn't it take a load of strengh out of the shell?

I saw this the other day on eBay actually. I like the idea but dear lord not on this car! Anyone remember the Polo 6n special that had this factory fit? Think it was called the "opentrip" or something.

Theres a 206 down my road that has a glass roof... never new they did em!

Why the hell would you waste a car by doing that to it. Total waste :(

Sacrilege!!!

I think some of you are overreacting a little bit.

I'd rather have a factory fit sunroof than an aftermarket fabric one but I can see why some people might like this style.

Oh , and on a more general point , a glass sunroof make the car feel a lot brighter and more airy. It's very handy to quickly cool a car on a hot day and on days when it's in the right temperature range - about 13 to 25'- and I'm driving below 40mph I often use mine.

It lets in plenty of fresh air without the turbulence and noise you get from the side windows and I'd be reluctant to buy a car without one.

To be fair it does suit a lot of classic cars, but not the Fabia IMO.

Certainly not on a Race Blue VRS :)
