Massive sunroof

I think the seller sums it up well themselves:

The electric webasto sunroof has 2 pre set and a fully open mode which opens nearly the whole roof, almost a convertable to boot. (£1000 worth)

It's like a convertible, but it's not quite there.

It looks like a pram. I'm afraid I don't like it. Never mind. Someone will buy it though.

I once owned a 1952 Mercedes 300 saloon with a Webasto sunroof big enough to drop a Fabia through. Car and sunroof were very impressive!

I like it! (now prepares to be shot down........)

I'm just wheeling out a cannon.

Each to their own as always IMHO - I would be concerned about body flex, could probably do with a Forge rear strut brace and I'd want to see how the roof line has been re-inforced, plus how it is insurable in particular. That's surely too big to qualify as a 'sunroof retrofit' in the normal sense of the word:confused:

They are actually type approved and they weigh a ton, so I suspect that structural rigidity isn't catastrophically affected, just severely but I wouldn't want to have a side-on accident in it either.

I like it too, I thoughtt I was the only one.

Mannyo, add another one to your list, I had one years ago in a Fiesta, and really liked it, they are really nice on a hot day when wound right back.

The only down point is the lack of security, as they very easy to cut with a knife and gain entry, but thats the same with any rag-top.

webasto sunroofs had a nick name of wet****** because they always leaked

i like the idea of a big sunroof like that:D

I think it looks great, due to the size it's almost like painting your roof black but it comes with an extra function of being able to watch the stars from the comfort of your nice wipe clean leather seats with your partner ;)

Shame it wasn't a yellow fabia, it could be made to look like a banana :)

Nice sunroof , just the wrong choice of car to put it on...Id have one on a 1957 Oval Window VW Beetle (in Coral Red) now that would be sweet! :)

Very 2cv :rotz:

It's bad enough putting one in a Fabia but not in the best car made, nevernevernevnevernevereneverrnevernevernevernevernevernevernevernevernever

i like it and i love sunroofs, i use mine very very often in my octavia. as said they let loads of light in and lots of fresh air without the hassle of being windy.

VW did it as an option from the factory though , even as far back as the 1938 KdF Wagen , there was an option of the Ragtop Sedan, along with the regular Sedan and the Convertible.

I love normal sunroofs, but I'd seriously question the structual rigidity of the eBay special!

I saw that the other day,

fugly fabia.

Yes I knew about the option which is OK ,but an aftermarket one never:rotz::rotz::rotz:

I put that roof in my Arosa. Webasto are excellent quality, but kinda suit a less overtly sporting vehicle I spose. No probs with leaking and just like a hard top from inside when closed.

Webasto design roof systems for most European manufacturers, there would be absolutely no probs with safety or rigidity.

JON
