So i bought one of these the other day, its a 51 plate SDi, (Slowest car ever)

Questions:

Its got manual windows and mirrors, interested in getting sum electrics, is it poss just to swap doors over with elec ones?

Ive got a 2 button Flip key, Its one with a blank key, Can i get it programmed so i have remote central locking?

Looking at Mk4 Golf GTi interior to replace the standard seats, GTi seats come with airbags, Whats the best option, take air bags out the seats or just leave them disconnected? My seats dont have airbags so guessing i cant add seats with airbags?

If not, any way about it?

Few issues,

Wen i drive off, think above 10/15mph, the doors auto lock, which i like, but the passenger side pops back up???

Rear wider does not work, but sprays water ok?

Cars done 200k miles, its an ex taxi, should i be looking for anything?

Guy i got it from was a mate, had it checked over and said it was fine

I assume you already have central locking and want to program the key fob to operate the doors? You'll need VAGCOM to program and you'll need to get the key cut.

Leave the bags in place and unconnected. Or get the interior from a vRS

The passenger door lock poping up again is most probably caused by a faulty solder point on the lock mechanism. i had the same issue with one of my back doors.

How do you sort it mate?

Take the lock out, adn check the solder joints on the microswitches, one of them has probably cracked. A quick search on here should give you some more details as I am pretty sure it has been covered before.

As stated by mbames you have to take the lock mechanism out and open the part that contains the electronics.

by checking it you will find a cracked solder point, or a line that was damaged by moisture (this happened on my front passenger door), etc.

just resolder everything and test it with a multimeter. there are many threads that will explain you with much detail how to take out the door locks and repair them.

an advice, once you assemble the lock, test it, or you can find yourself having to remove everything again just because you didnt assemble it right, happened to me when attempted to fix my door
