Approaching 400 members!!

Featured Replies

I reckon lots of congratulations are due to those who created and manage this site, as the member total rapidly approaches 400. Its quite an achievement to create such a community. Also, I personally feel very grateful for the service this site offers, even though it is through other members. I think that various drinks are due to people who have given advice to me over the last month or so! (I wonder how many will print out this thread and produce it when I turn up at the Malt Shovel...?) :dtp:

Lets see how many agree with my sentiments (and it doesn't count if you agree, Colin/Ian. :D - that would be a little self-indulgent, no? haha)

PS: upon reviewing this, "my sentiments" does not refer to me buying drinks for everyone - Its the bit above that.

You're going to go beyond buying drinks? If thats the case, its nothing to do with me!

Err. Now I read that it does look a bit dodgy, doesn't it :o:D There's nowt queer as folk, eh?

I can confirm that I will not be going beyond buying drinks for anyone, unless they're single women, and me buying that drink will get me a drive in their vRS, (if thats what they came in) and maybe something more...

I gotta admit though - Its not like the TDI Fabia is a mincer hairdresser's car is it? There's no where for them to keep their make-up and hairbrush is there! Also I don't drink Pimms and extend my little finger when drinking. Its Guinness and real-ale for me! :dtp:

edit: And look at the wheels! If I was in any doubt about my sexual orientation, I probably would have spent that

Jason,

Many thanks for your comments, It's true the site has grown way beyond what I planned or indeed any of us thought when we left the pub after deciding to do somthing.

I recall at 100 we thought 200 would be nice, 400 though :D

I'm just glad your all getting valuable information, it's the whole purpose to it's existence. Of course there are fringe purposes to it's existence like having a laugh cough,. Bringing a smile to everyones face and allowing them to discover more about there (normally) 2nd largest investment.

But as you say thanks to all those adding content, it is you gents and ladies that drive the site on, provide information and create the community, I didn't do that, I just brought the plot of land for you all to develop upon.

Once again thanks and sorry to hear your considering painting your sliver beauty.

 Thats just my weekend car, Colin, for my trips down to the YMCA... I think some people here have too much spare time, and too much ability with photoshop to put my wheels on that car!! Although, with those Evolo alloys on, even that Skoda looks less effeminate! I should also say, you had me convinced that was an untampered piccie, for about 5 seconds. :D

Agree

Credit has to be given to all those involved for a great site & to the members for the quality of posts, The site still appears free of slagging & excessive use of obsenities unlike certain other sites. Perhaps Skoda drivers are just more exclusive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi all

When you think that this site was created for the users of the 'Skoda' section of the VW Vortex forum (i still remember the thread over there named 'A home of our own'!), its tremendous that it now has almost 400 members in its own right! Top job to all who have put the hard work in 'behind the scenes' , well done!

And Well Done from another (relatively new) member. I feel right at home, y'all.

Yes, I would like to jump on the "AOL me too" bandwagon by saying that this site certainly helped me in determining that a vRS is a much better choice over a cough Mondeo by reading all those positive messages.

Thanks to all who made that choice so easy :D

Q.

Nothing more to add - except THANKS!!! and a big  to the people behind Briskoda!

Well done Colin and a big THANK YOU . I'm sure I speak for everyone and not just myself in saying that . Good on yer

yeah man nice one! i always thought the skoda driver was a lonely driver with this site we have each other!!!

cheers!

...to the site founders and those behind the scenes making it work.

If it wasn't for Briskoda I think I'd still be struggling with a defunct cig lighter socket, but thanks to 'bigk' (not the car handbook) I now know that the electric window override switch also chops the power to the cig lighter..........I'm going to laugh about that for years to come!

I've only met Colin and Ian once on a Thursday evening (actually met Ian at Horners when he was having the sump fixed....oops said we wouldn't mention that!) but they sure do make you welcome, I say this for those of you who don't live in the north west and who may not have met these guys yet. (Devon, you should make the trip and buy the beer!!)

It's been great to exchange information and views with so many contributors to the site........so I suppose we should congratulate each other on making it a fun and intersting site.

 Hers to 5, 6 and 7 hundred......then what about the 1000th:D

Paul

Ah yes the cigarette lighter thing - I had to ask my dealer about that one when my phone stopped charging ....

Nick - Hope you weren't using your mobile whilst driving? :D

Also a warm thank you from across the North Sea for making me feel at home in the one and only Skoda community that matters. The Briskoda team have done a great job - hats off. Briskoda has already made me feel more of a Skoda owner than I have ever been a Subaru or Honda owner!

Approaching 400? Perhaps it's time for one of the moderators to start a sticky thread called Roll Call, where we (re-)introduce ourselves and our cars, and tell where we came from car-wise and how we came to appreciate our current marque...

[suggestion mode off]

Mattijs - That would be a pretty long thread, no? :D

Oh, but to be fair I think the group of hardcore Briskodians won't exceed 100...

But still, yes, a long thread! But I don't mind a long read, especially if it's good :D

And I think an introduction thread would be better - and more informative - than my earlier suggestion to Colin to slightly tweak the members database to allow for sorting it by car instead of just alphabetically.

Congrats to the founders, and welcome to jase555 for being the 400th member. Anyone doing sweepstakes on the date when 500 is achieved? :D

A huge well done to the founding fathers!!

I am a very proud Briskodan. I never knew that my post labelling us all as "Briskodans" would actually lead to us to calling ourselves Briskodans, hah!!

What makes this site so great is the people. I personally have made some good friends and if it wasn't for the advice that you all have subsequently given me about a few things, I would have to rely on a dealer (although my own Forward Motors are impecable- even if I live in Coventry and they are in Luton!!)

400 Members is quite an achievement, well done Colin, Ian, Tavia, etc good on ya chaps. I show my Briskoda.net sticker with pride:cheers:

Well if 400 members turn up to The Malt Shovel however, I think we might have problems!!!!!!!

I think this site might make Skoda sit up and take notice of a few things anyhow!!

Good to feel part of something good:D

Here's looking at the next 400!!!
