Hello , bit of advise needed

Featured Replies

Hi,

I currently own a Mk1.5 1.6 Zetec Focus Estate that I am looking to replace with something a little quicker with more toys. I am looking for a newer petrol version or an alternative petrol estate. The Octavia looks quite interesting, but I am looking for some info on things to look for, good and bad.

Also I am in Leicester, are there any good dealers (to buy from ) within 30-50 miles and is there a good independent garage for servicing etc locally?

cheers

Rich

apologies if this should be in the Octavia forum...

welcome

welcome:)-if you want a quicker car then the 1.8 tsi or the vrs should fit the bill and both are huge in estate form. fords aint bad to drive but you will get just as good a drive with more space from the octy and they feel bit more solid and special than focus, build quality is great. the vrs is rapid and should do 4 most people. you will pay more in tax- on yhe vrs £210 a year 4 petrol and group 15 insurance and i get around 33-35 av mpg on 40 mile round trip to work an back on a mixture of motorway, A road and urban. i have only exceeded official mpg of 37 twice.

Octy is top car, no probs so far-try to buy askoda pproved used as you will get 12 month warranty. good luck!

A bit more info as I did leave a few bits out didn't I.

Looking to spend no more than £12000. Have to have petrol as my daily commute is rough 3 miles each way. Doesn't need to be new, but not more than 24 months old.

Cheers

Rich

Hi Neal,

was looking for at estate.

What are the godd vs bad points on the petrol vRSs?

Are Farmers a reasonable dealer?

Is there an independent that is any good locally?

I noticed you said you were after an estate, but I'm very sure someone on here has said that the hatchback has almost as much space as the estate. Also I think the hatch is a lot better looking than the estate.I know its not a rock solid testimony, maybe its worth starting a new thread (Click) with that question (Estate vs Hatch).

As I drive a Fabia vRS I couldn't comment on the good bad points of the Octy VRs. I do think it would be worth asking that question here though. Click

Farmers are quite good, I didn't buy from them. Only because they were a bit more expensive compared to another dealer. But I do regret not buying from them, as they have looked after me regarding some warranty issues....

HTH:)

welcome :)

Found a nice sounding car in Croydon. To far away for you but shows a good petrol vrs estate is in budget. See my reply on your duplicate thread in general motoring.
