Octavia II 4x4 Hatch and Estate!!

Featured Replies

My dealer confirmed to me that the new Octavia will be available as a 4x4 in both hatch (April 2005), and estate (fall 2005). This is the info Skoda Norway is giving them. The plain estate will be available from April 2005. The RS version won't come until end of 2005/start of 2006, although this is unconfirmed rumour since Skoda Norway hasn't been given any more info about it. Engine details for the 4x4's have not been given at this point.

2005 already!!

Would this be for the Alpine and Scandinavian countries only?

Very curious about engine details indeed...

   Talked to my dealer who said that it has been confirmed that Skandinavia will only get the estate version in 1.9 TDI (105 bhp) and in a 150 bhp petrol version (2.0 FSI???)

"Scandinavia will only get"? So does that suggest there will be other versions for other countries?

Just like we didn't get the 4x4 TDi...

Or the Nature. :(

It isn't listed on Skoda's site any more, Geoff, but IIRC it was a 4X4 Estate with a TDi engine and a number of body and suspension extras for off road use - in effect a peasant's version of Audi's Allroad.

Ahhh....that'll be this fella then..

Most likely if that is a bumper protector/skid plate I can see up front, Geoff. But the car does look a bit low compared with a certain famous dynamic blue 4X4 I know of...

Or...

Just noticed that Norway gets the same Octavia I 4x4s as Holland does, so it looks likely that the new 4x4s will be just those two. It's what my dealer warned me about too, telling me that the non-turbo 2.0 FSI will probably be the top petrol version, as it also has the 150 hp that the 1.8T ARX has now.

He's very sorry that Skoda is unlikely to put a downtuned (180 hp) 2.0T FSI in a new hatchback 4x4, as he has a quite a number of customers who followed my example and will probably go somewhere else now (back to Subaru? S40 T5 AWD?). But on the whole it's a very limited group of customers, with the mainstay of 4x4 customers coming from the Alpine countries and just needing a reliable family car for snowy conditions, so why would Skoda bother?

Anyway, it looks like deliberate VAG policy - Seat's new "French" family car image is pushing the old Leon Cupra folk up to Audi, and now they probably want us to upgrade to VW 4motions...

Or to Skoda FWD. :D

That looks stuck. Crap advert.

It is stuck.

You can never be too careful. See who's laughing next time you have complete coil pack failure and errr... need one more :o

I was reading an old article that said that Skoda launched Octavia I 4x4 in both hatch and estate, but I can seem to find anyone that got the hatch... Did any country get it??

Yep, I have one too although I'll be getting the estate next time. That'll be the 150PD 4x4 Octavia II estate chipped to 200BHP :)

With DSG? :)
With DSG? :)

Well I hope so, assuming that the powers that be (Crowland ;)) decide that the DSG can take the remapping :(

But that would be very nice, wouldn't it? Goodness me, while we're at it let's have the adjustable ride height as seen in the allroad :D

What's on your wishlist, Mr W?

Or this slightly more stealthy one compared to Stuart's:

Apart from the UK, which stopped selling it, I know that at least the Netherlands and Germany still have it.

If that ever comes available... which I think it won't. :(

Which engine did the hatch 4x4 Octavia I come with?? Octavia II 4x4 will come as a 1.9 TDI (105 bhp) and as a 2.0 FSI (150 bhp) Estate to Norway. Since you said that Netherlands got the same 4x4's as Norway there might be a chance..
