Google second guessing me

Featured Replies

is there any way of stopping Google second guessing what i'm searching for before i've finished typing in , its getting on my nerves now , its only just started recently and i don't see any point to it , as when you click on one of their suggestions , it still doesn't go directly to the website anyway

Hmmm, I don't see how to turn it off unfortunately.

Certainly gets in the way for me by the time I get 3 letters in my search for "porous rock" - Comes up with all sorts

at the bottom: 'Query Suggestions' highlight the button 'Do not provide query suggestions in the search box.'

Click the 'Save Preferences' button.. all done!

thank you Alex

I just disabled it on IE8. Clicked the down arrow next to the magnifying glass and went to "manage search providers" and if you right click on the top primary search engine, you can select "disable suggestions" :)

Well, I just tried it out on "porous rocks", and since it updates a dropdown list of possibles rather than trying to second guess your search string (at least on IE6), I think it may actually be an enhancement.

that's just what it does in IE8 for me. as above, it's dead easy to switch off. not that you have to click on any of the suggestions :P

Pork chop recipes??

its easy to switch off,

switch to iGoogle, sign in to your google account and click on preferences then at the bottom deselect, Provide query suggestions in the search box and select "Do not provide query suggestions in the search box" works for me.
