Having a look at a Fabia VRS next week, heres the deal

2005 red fabia vrs on a 54 reg,

75k miles

FSH with cam belt and everything else done at 70k miles

Revo remap

PD160 air intake

goodridge braided brake lines all round

Front has had 15mm hubcentric spacers and rear 20mm hubcentric spacers which have been machined to match wheel to disc hub

17'' black alloys

The women has moved to italy as she has just got married. The car is over there but she dosent want to reg it over there. As a result she cant use it. She is paying a houlage company to deliver to my house (at her expense).

I then have 48 hours to decide if i want the car. All docs will be produced at time of delivery. In this 48 hours i can test drive it and get it RAC checked.

If everything checks out, i sign the V5, pay the delivery driver and the car is mine.

If im not 100% happy then the guy takes it away and im none the poorer (apart from the RAC check bill)

She has also got the OEM skoda wheels which she is including with the sale.

All this for £3000. Is that good or am i missing something??

Your thoughts please ladies and gents.......

John

If you believe that, you will believe anything.....

If you don't want the car, I'll buy it, for a bag of jelly babies ( only licked by the dog once ) and a promise of a shag off the next door neighbour.......

How come? Iv done a HPI and police check and it all checks out. If im not handing over any money then what is the problem? Also if the RAC test checks out then is it ok?

What are your concerns?

Forged V5 docs.

Forged MOT Certificates.

I trust you have NOT given her any of your personal details?

It's going to cost at least 400gbp to get the car over here, and if you don't buy it where is it going?

Sorry fella, it sounds too good to be true.

I got one of my vRS's stolen, and shortly after got one offered for 3k under book.......

John, please don't do it.

It will end in tears.

Maybe not now, maybe not this year, but believe me it will.

If you can't stare the seller in the eye and haggle, don't do it.

I have bought and sold more cars than you have had hot dinners, and trust me, there is always one that will bite your ****, and this one sounds like it.

Just checked with the haulage company and its 177 euros to ship the car.

Please just read the link i posted.

It's all just a big con.

It's a scam, it will be a cloned car even if there is a car, you will get ripped off, soon will come the request to place a deposit to help her with shipping costs.

Good luck then John.

I hope sincerely that it is kosher, but............

just had a similar reply from a car in italy , seems the woman was working over here and the car can be shipped back .

seems very familiar story , had a scam a while back on my gixxer 1000 from another guy in italy , he even sent me a cheque by ups , bounce higher than a kite would as graham says give it a wide berth john.

give the fraud department of western union a call and ask them if they have anything similar , its usually the shipping costs theyre after.

when i spoke to them a couple of years back they had 2500 cases on there books of a fraud called the nigerian scam , this sounds like a variation or refinement tbh.

Thanks, I think more homework is needed.

Thanks for taking the time to reply to my post.

Just checked with the haulage company and its 177 euros to ship the car.

They look really kosher to, Italian phone number, US fax number, address is a block of residential flats, no registrant info and think logically man, 177 euro wouldn't even cover the costs of the fuel to transport it from Italy by road

More homework? Have you read any of the replies? This is a con, a scam whatever you want to call it, forget it and move on, because you will get no sympathy here when it all goes to ****!

You trust a haulage company with 'Online Casinos | Designer Jeans | iPhone 3G Unlock | Drug Rehab | Titan Poker ' at the bottom of their website? are you a bit dim?

Definite con.

The reason the HPI checks out is probably because they have copied the details of a recent Fabia vRS sale on Ebay or Pistonheads

Perhaps he'll just have to go ahead with the deal and prove everybody wrong eh?

Here's a response to my question about a BMW ad I say on autotrader recently - the car was several £k under book and I was going to bait the "seller". I'm sure bits of it will sound familiar.....

Hello,

I regret the delay of my response.

I already have many emails so I hope you'll understand that I need to sort them.

My name is Jane Williams I have 31 years old and I was doctor for 3 years in Leeds. I am glad you are interested in my car 2006 BMW 530d M Sport Diesel 3.0 Automatic, 28,000 Miles.

First, I want you to know that I lived in Leeds until 2 months ago, but now I'm in Spain because I am pregnant and I have decided to give birth in my home country so I want to sell my car and move back in Spain.

The car is in perfect working condition. It's in showroom condition, no scratches, no dents, full service history, HPI clear, no outstanding finance, non-smoking, never involved in any accident.

The car is still UK registered. If you decide to buy it you will receive the original invoice, logbook, keys and all the documents to register it into your name .

Genuine reason for sale: unfortunately I can't register the car here because you know it is very hard to drive a Right-hand car here.

I want £7000 + shipping to your door for the car. To calculate the shipping fees send me your address.

Due to amount involved and due the fact that I am not located in the United Kingdom, I only accept third party transaction mediator.

I have chosen the ebay Shipping Center Program to take care of all the proceedings, so the car will be shipped by ebay.

Beside shipping the car, ebay will act as the middle man - holding the payment until you receive and inspect

it. You will have one week inspection period.

Regarding the payment method I would like to use ebay like a third part for the payment because in my opinion this is the safest way to handle the transaction. You will have the car for inspection and test drive BEFORE any money is released to me.

Look how this work:

1. I will contact them , and I will send your shipping information to ebay to open the transaction.

2. They will send you a payment invoice for the car (the invoice will be from customer support team) about

how to make the payment.

3. The invoice contains all the info about this transaction and you must follow the steps written there to

complete the deal with me.

4. After all that will be done, the car will be shipped by ebay, and the car will arrive at your address in

3 to 5 days..

5. Buyer accepts delivery and informs eBay to tell them if he is satisfied or not

6. ebay will release the money to the seller(in case the buyer is satisfied) or to the buyer(in case that

he is not satisfied).

This means a 3rd party.

You will receive a tracking # in the same day when the car will be shipped from ebay.

I am using the protection and shipping program offered by ebay Shipping Center because this will protect both of us and also it is the fastest way to complete this deal.

If you want to go on with this deal , mail me immediately your shipping address to contact ebay and calculate

the shipping cost .

There are some pictures of the car:

Let me know if you are interested ...

Jane
