Wow, Andy, how do you think the scammer could possibly have generated a false HPi and cloned a vehicle from the scant information provided on that advert :rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

Fine detective work mate

Its all been reported to Pistonheads and trading standards now. The guy whos car it is knows all about it now as well.

Buyers beware!

Thanks again to everyone who replied to my post. (Even the ones calling me dim!)

your not dim at all mate , these are well organised and plausible.

individually these sound a good idea , its only when you can get an overview from people who have seen it before that you become aware of just how prevalent these things are.

as i posted , a couple of years back western union had 2500 instances on there books.

that was a massive scam world wide , covered everything from art to horses.

i sold my bike a couple of weeks ago and was paranoid about dodgy notes, the guy was really genuine and i felt quite bad but we checked every note before he even got to test ride it.

cant take a cheque now as clearance means nothing and b/society cheques can be forged, worlds full of it mate.

I take it you got the number from the bottom of his Ebay advert.

Is he a member on here? There's a lot of mods on that car (over and above what were listed on the fraudulent PH advert!!)

Glad we got you sorted anyway

Yep, got the number from ebay. Think he is a member on here he was saying but dont think he uses the site much.

I sent the fraudster a little email expressing my feelings towards them!
