Featured Replies

hi there im still new to cars and what can be done to them , im wanting to change my stock cd player for a mp3 usb one .

can the fabia vrs have double din, if so do i need a fasia for it

thank u for any help

adam:)

Yes its double din. Not sure if a facia is needed.

Yep and yep.

You can find this info doing a search, you should be glad there no dead kitty's on this thread yet ;).. but seeing as ya new...

The vRS is double din, you'll loose the cubby below it but it pulls right out. You will need an adapter to just clip in at the top (above the unit) to make it look nice... you'll find the part number doing a search.

I highly recommend you get the skoda part as the after market ones cost more and does worse job of it!

Rob :)

I'd second that about the fascia adaptor, as I recently put in an Autoleads one, and it's not a great match in shape, size or colour. In my case, however, I now have a Polo cupholder up-top and a single-DIN HU from an Octy underneath. It took some help from my friends Stanley and Loctite to get a satisfactory result, and I suspect you'll need their help too as whatever fascia adaptor you get will be single-DIN only...

i love this forum , every 1 seams really friendly at the moment and very knoledgable

is there a part no. that apleys to the adapter , and if any 1 has got 1 ,can they tell me how much im looking at paying :)

You should be all right with the skoda part re: knifes and glue.

It's just a strip of plastic with clips on the back to fill the gap that using standard din units.. be them 1 or 2, will leave. So shouldn't effect using a double din unit..

I know what you mean about the autoleads adapter ap0gee, it's got a collar hasn't it that slips around a single din rather than clipping in. I had both in my last fabia.. the autoleads one was also annoying at the collar made the after market unit sit 3 - 4 mm further out then it had to.

Knife wise though, you may have to remove some of the structure behind the unit to get a deep double din unit in, but it's very unlikely you'll need to do this, be careful if you do though.

you can get the adapter direct from Skoda - I have a couple of spares somewhere.......

Tray below stock radio just pulls out with a firm yank [man, that doesn't read back very clean....]

You need a fascia with single DIN so I imagine double DIN one looks the same, only the gap is twice as high.

Double Din units fit perfectly, here is mine

ok there ,thank u for all the advice that u people have given me so far , but now im stumped again ,

ordered my double din pioneer head unit on friday(came today) , and alsow i ordered a sub wireing kit and a facia addapter kit(£50 worth !!!!!!!!)

my question today is how the hell the kit workes and if i really need it at all ??

the kit consists of a cadge,2x what i would asume to be cadge fixing plates ,packet of bults and stuff , 1x slim facia plate that is to small to fill the gap i the car ,and 1x black plastic photo frame looking thing that is too big to fill the space

help:(

Pull you nose out our bums.

Ok i have the Double din Pioneer too!

Ignore the photo frame - you wont need it!

The cage comes in 2 sections to help the fitment of the cage and the stereo into the double din slot - I had to use a rubber mallet to get mine into the dash!

The square cage goes into the dash first and the 2 sections go around the radio to hold it in tight, there are about 8 screws that hold the radio into the cage - If i remember correctly!

Deleted, Polo6n got in there before me. . .

Not sure if its the same as with single din cages, but I find if you bend the top and bottom together slightly they slot in easier without the need for a hammer! lol they bend back easily, and as the stereo slides in they'll definitely go back into shape! Then bend the cut out parts of the cage to hold it in nice and tight to stop the pikeys having an easy time ripping it out ;)

Remember to swap the yellow and red cables (ignition and constant lives) on the pioneer loom (they should have bullet connectors) and fit the radio antenna booster! (hopefully you have one if you want to use the radio!)

Before you push the stereo in, make sure that its working first and that it turns on/off with the ignition and remembers radio presets!

Space is a bit tight behind the hu's so you may need to feed the wires into the gaps and cry as the skin on your hands is ripped off by the cage
