Is it a brand new key ? . . . if not most likely you will need a new transponder.

What software you using to code key and get code ?

You need an un programmed transponder as well, anything that has been matched to a car before will not work with Immo 3 onwards.

Secret Key Code a 4 digit code needed to program new transponders.

Hickleys :: Keys and Remotes - Transponders

AKTP2 - is the transponder you need

Pop that inside the key (after removing the old one) then give it a bash with your code

Should work fine then  - This assuming its the transponder to blame ....but i reckon its a dead cert

brilliant ill give it a try, many thanks

Thanks for the link. I need a new transponder so good timing.

I've got a 2001 mk1 octavia and looking at the list I was going to order AKTP4 not the AKTP2. Does any one know which one I need to order?

Might as well add my info to this post for any future search.

Also which part of the key fob is the transponder in? The bottom part or top part with the key/blade?

If you havent got the SKC code you have two options.

1. Go to the dealers and they can retrive it, but it will cost.

2. Go to someone else who has the correct software to retrive the code. The only forum member I know who can retrive the SKC code is Shark90. Unless anyone else adds their name to the list. Contact him to check prices but hes a lot cheaper than the dealer.

You cant reprogramme the key to your immoboliser without the SKC code.If you have the SKC code you can reprogramme using vagcom but you cant use vagcom to retrive the SKC code.

It is best the phone them to make sure, the transponder is in the top part of the remote.

Thanks Gizmo,

Will phone ASAP.

How the hell do you get the top part of the key fob open? I've already stabed myself with a sharpe knife:rofl: Does it just require brute force? I dont want to damage it but it doesnt want to come apart easily.

LOL, no you need to remove the Skoda badge and remove the screw that is under it! then it will prise apart.

Make sure you note how the spring goes (which way it is wound) otherwise the blade will no longer 'flip out' again.

I knew there was something I was missing:rofl:

Thanks again Gizmo

At least its here for the next person to search.

Just phoned Hickleys and for the mk1 octavia they confirmed it is the AKTP2 - ID48 transponder.

£3.00 + P&P @ £5.95 + VAT = £10.29 in total.

Im still having problems with mine pretty much given up on it.

I got a new transponder fitted it found the SKC code but everytime i try to program the key it comes up error both on the computer and on the dash

Sutty are you sure you have the correct transponder for the car?

Hickleys initially supplied me with the wrong transponder for our MK5 Golf (they supplied a AKTP2 instead of the required TP23) which was incompatible.

Where abouts are you? Never used VAG Commander, but with VCDS it is pretty straightforward (when you have the right bits!)

If you're using a ripped off copy of VAG Commander/VAG Tacho (very likely) then the results are very hit and miss. The SKC that you have "retrieved" might not even be correct.

I retrieved the SKC from 2 different pieces of software if i remember correctly its been a while since i tried tho

If you have the SKC and thats the same from two different programs then i would place the problem with how your coding the key to the car. (not expert opinion though)

AKTP2 is deffo the right one for mk1 and i remember the 1st time i tried to code key to my car and it took me a few tries to get the procedure right....i would say the procedure depends on the program your using.

Hi everyone,

I'm brand new to this site so please bear with me. Long story short, I've managed to break the immo transponder in my only key for my 2002 Octavia Elegance 1.8T 4x4. I have ordered a brand new key fob and virgin transponder, should have them by Wed 15 Apr. Having done a little research I have becom very confused regarding matching the new transponder to my immo. I have very limited funds and would prefer not to spend too much on getting this done. Can anyone help/advise?

Cheers guys
