The Sahara you say?

So that's their secret Operation Desert Storm? (We don't get a share of your welfare, so you get a share of our sand?)

Now I'm really interested... So what's the meteology behind all this? Why does it only happen at nights? Does it only happen at nights or is that a fata morgana too?

We get it in the Uk too, not often but it does happen

Hire a valeter :D

or an aupair?

I'd love a pair....

:D

Nothing in this game for 2 in a bed :(

Not even if it is your SO and her sister ;)

:D

Or it could be from China too, apparently. Here's a quick and dirty article - I found hundreds of others but I'm sure you can find one you like - as they said on cornercarvers "Google is your friend" :D

I have a theory. I suspect that some of the dust is just the **** that is floating around in the air, and at night is caught in the condensing air as it cools. Obviously, a car will provide a nice surface for the condensation to form on, and hence the dust gets deposited. When we wake up from our slumbers the condensation has evaporated in the early morning sun (well, sometimes), leaving the dust behind.

Would explain why there's dust spots on the car even when there has been no rain.

Anyway, I'm sure someone far more qualified than I will be along shortly to disprove my theory.

Cheers,

Thanks, Nick. At least you added a grin to that Stateside wisdom... :D

Fascinating read, especially where it gets sarcastic on globalisation.

So my rubbish is indeed from the Sahara. Oh well, ochre and black fit together really well.

The grin was deliberate, Mattijs - and I did find the first seedling for you ....

So was mine :p

Forgot the ;) though...

Recommendations for dried on quality Devon cow ****? Even high pressure hose doesn't work!

Cloth and some elbow grease seems to be the only solution!

I remember all this Sahara stuff from my Geography classes in School. It's to do with air masses and Continental Tropical air. At least I know what makes my car so dirty and got a B out of it....
