To paint or not to paint??

Featured Replies

Hi All

I now have a nice new tin of Hammerite Smooth Green sat in my spare room (Thanks to matt@theforce) prepped waiting for my 312's to arrive following payday next week.

But what else can i paint with it?! :)

I purchased a SEAT front strut brace yesterday (to be fitted at Unit18 on Friday) It's red as standard which goes with my red Fabia but i could paint it green?

In preparation of Saturday's Combe show stand could i "touch up" the visible bits of my 288 brakes while they are on the car or am i asking for trouble?

The other half suggested i give our (currently red) Jabba RARB a coat of green?

Anything else easily accesible that could do with a coat??

Sensible ideas welcome

and not so sensible ideas considered (but most likely not carried out!)

Rocker cover? Alternator?

I think touching up callipers is a bad idea. Either you take them off, clean them properly and spray them completely or you leave them well alone. I think they'd look terrible otherwise. :D

Exhaust tip would be well cool. :D

His callipers appear to be off the car already?

Did I misunderstand that then? :(

Oh yeah! lol - I thought you were referring to the the "I now have a nice new tin of Hammerite Smooth Green sat in my spare room prepped waiting for my 312's to arrive following payday next week."

Apologies!

 Strut brace i could handle but that'd be way way too much green under the bonnet i think!

Had the wheels off last wash and they were looking v tired so thought a touch up was wide and I was more concerned with painting them shut than the final look, as they'll be removed in the near future and most likely binned

lol i do hate cleaning it back to chrome again. although that could a slippery slope to a red and green exterior horror story

red body work - green exhaust - green bump strips - green door handles - green fog light inserts - green grill - green wing mirrors - green spolier - green wheels!

Front doors? could be like the first Skoda 'harlequin'

Excuse me while I go throw up

Ghetto "Skoda Motorsport" graphics on the side?

There was a member on here who did have green wheels... :D I seem to remember it made me feel violently sick.

I can't see the photobucket links (stupid work filters) but i think it was this one http://briskoda.net/fabia-i/marmite/127071/

and it looked bad enough to with black body let alone with red

I think i'll stick to brakes and the strut brace if i can be bothered!!

I fitted a strut brace to mine a couple of months back, i left it red i think it goes better with the car, there is an image on here somewhere if you want it

How about your wheel nut covers?... :)

Sell it on, Some people would pay mega bucks to get there hands on some smooth green. lol.

I gave up looking and just bought some red and painted over the green

So i now have the fronts red, and the rears green.

I was just worried about corrosion as much of the green had peeled off.

paint your shoes

I had some smooth green left after doing my 312's last year, so a coupe of weekends ago when I swapped my alloys back I painted the rear calipers, didn't bother taking them off, just made sure they were extremely clean and tapped up well, no problem, look the business again.

Offer a brake touch-up service at Castle Combe!?
