Engine stalled?

Featured Replies

Hi, we drive the new superb II, 1.9 TDI , 105 PK.

Today my wife drove the car and she drove it over a railway crossing. At that moment she was on the phone with me and said that something strange happened.

The engine stalled and a battery light went on in the field op the speedometer. She managed to put the car on the side of the road and when she came to a complete stop she had to restart the engine. After that she could drive home (only 500 meters)

What could have happend here???

Peter

Possibly a loose earth connection, where it meets the frame (domed nut), caused by the shaking of travelling over the crossing?

Ray

EMP from the rails.

UFO's ?

The battery poles are secured. i checked them. Otherwise we don't have a clue at all. it happened only once untill now.

The battery poles are secured.

Trace the cable back from the negative battery pole and you should find another connection to the car. That was the one I referred to.

Ray.

Another check you could do is to feel the temperature of the terminals, one at a time not both at the same time, if the positive is very hot after a few miles you are getting a cut out in the lead from the alternator, I doubt it's that doing it but best to check for silly things 1st and it might also reveal the actual fault.
