tuning octy 1 vrs

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, first post on here for a while,i'm picking up my new toy tommorow,a black octavia vrs.Its mint(05 plate with 26k) and it goes really well.It is standard though, well for now anyway.Where should i start?I would like to go down the big turbo route eventually. For now a remap is a good place to start i think.I can get it remapped to 210 bhp for £265 at a place called performance torque, however jabba sport wanted £420 to remap it to 225 bhp.i know these maps are different, jabba's map is full custom, whereas i suspect the performance torque map is generic.seen a firm on google called celtic tuning, got a nice website(no,i dont work for them)but i do think the results are a bit optimistic. who's the best and who should i avoid?

Go to Jabba.... but then I'm biased.

Their custom maps take some beating!!!

Steve:)

p.s. If your thinking of going BT (big turbo) later on, don't waste your money on bigger downpipes and fancy induction kits as these will be of NO use if you change the turbo/exhaust manifold.

The large bore Milltek system 2.75" can be made compatible with the standard downpipe, then modified to fit the larger 3" downpipe used with IHI's etc. at a later date.

will at performance tourque can do you a custom map im sure , and will be mapping my turbo conversion very soon , and i have heard his stage one maps are very good and well worth your bucks he gets the:thumbup: from me and im sure many others will say the same ,but would think the big guns will have a good following , but i would just go down the stage 1 route for now till you get your turbo ideas sorted out

ive seen and heard better results from performance torque stage 1 maps than anywhere else ,mine is awesome! is the 225 from jabba a stage 1,sounds to me like its goin more towards stage 2 for that power,or is that power they quote with an exhaust etc?

from my hearings the Jabba RR will tell you that its 225 but go to a few others and youll prob be a bit disapointed.

I never used them myself but Id say that 225 from a std car is not easy to get.

I can personally recommend Performance Torque, as I'm sure several others on this forum will. Will remapped my mk1 VRS in November 07, the difference is performance is phenomenal and my only regret is that I didn't have it done sooner.

There's a Performance Torque section on this forum where you can ask them questions etc. directly and see others views on the service.

I'm not even going to suggest anyone...

you can easily get 300bhp on a standard car mate with no mods just need the right rolling road:thumbup:

1st thing is to sort the handling & braking department.

Really??

Brakes and suspension, especially if you are serious about going down the big turbo route at a later date. In the meantime you can save up for the big turbo and the work to the engine that'll need to be done for it.

hi guys, they are stage 1 maps.optimistic results me thinks, even taking into account the differences between dynos.with the big turbo idea i reckon between 300-340bhp will keep me happy, can a ko4 conversion push that out?at what horsepower would i need to uprate engine internals, rods, pistons etc? thanks for the replies guys!

they say 300 is the max for std internals mate

and NO is the answer for the K04.

I recon if you maxed out the K04 you would get 280bhp thats with everything else done. your prob looking at around 250-270 with a K04 and all the zorst and intake stuff.

I would say ne way.

Whilst I'm not really one to talk, seeing as my car is completly stock, I agree with the above.

If you are going big power later on you might as well get the underpinning stuff done first then go for power rather than getting a remap first which will be wasted later on when it needs mapping for the new turbo.

from what i have been reading, one of the smoothest stage one maps is APR. Uses only 1bar of boost with no spikes.
