TRACKDAY! 6 mile circuit on M.O.D base - 7th June!

Featured Replies

I have decided now to attend this event as

a) it's good value @ £125 per car

B) it's a 6 mile long track!

c) it's relatively local to me

d) how often does this opportunity arise?

RAF base at Bovington

Event Information

Can I do a full circuit? - No' date=' you will do one full lap, then queue up to go round again, just like the Nurburgring's Touristenfharten / Tourist driving. This gives you and your car a chance to cool down and collect yourself after each lap. You can lap as many times as you wish.

Noise limits - Static noise limit is 100dB at 1m, 3/4 revs, 45 degrees. Ish.

Cars - Cars must be road legal. Full slicks are not advised.

Helmets - Required for all drivers and passengers. Full face are required for screenless vehicles. Open top cars can use a normal open face. Helmet rental will not be available on the day, so please come prepared. Demon Tweeks sell good quality and cheap OMP helmets from £60.

Passengers - Are free of charge, but must sign on, attend safety brief and are encouraged to make a charity donation.

Spectators - Are not permitted. Due to the nature and length of this circuit we cannot ensure the safety of untrained personnel roaming the track. However, viewing points outside the circuit are possible from the perimeter roads.

Extra drivers - One extra driver per vehicle allowed, with a charge of £40.

Photographers - If you are a photographer, please contact us. You will require a PLI of £5 million and will be required to travel via safety car to marshall posts.

Can I help? - We are currently fully subscribed for volunteers for the day.

Gift Aid - You will be able to authorise Gift Aid on your booking at the signing on procedure.

Looks SO cool!

Please note that event is not organised by BRISKODA, but is a charity fundraising event organised by the MOD. Gift Aid details are encouraged to be provided on the day. BRISKODA is not involved and bears no responsibility whatsoever in regard to this event. It's just little old me wanting a good day out to thrash around a nice circuit.

Sound interesting. How many laps can we do for that money? All day?:D

Yeah - Works like the Nurburgring works, except the £125 covers you for the whole day. You just queue up to be "released" on to the circuit. Might be a tyre shredding day though as it's on concrete but to drive a 6 mile circuit for £125, that won't happen again much? An opportunity and a half!

Time to refill that nos bottle I think ;)

Hope they removed the speed bumps :D

From what I know there might be a few "tank walls" but I think the track might be catered to ensure these are either well out the way, or have been removed entirely from the track. :)

just looked at the site info and that looks amazing!! i was imagining an airfield coned off or something like that! but a tank facility??? wow! pics look great! shame im back from nurburgring two weeks before and i dont have the money to do it :(

This is almost worth sacrificing a ring trip this year for me I think. Especially at £125 for the day, and roughly £500 for a Ring weekend.

  • Author

Only approx 50 spaces left on this now. These WILL go fast as details of the day are being spread around lots of car forums. If you fancy it I would book it TONIGHT!

Sorry, Bengie AND Andy. Like the little mini pic of the circuit in your sig

the focus needs a mini birthday before the 7th, for starters it's currently still full of boxes etc from where we moved about a month ago...:o

I am pretty surprised no one else from this forum has been enticed by this? It will be fully booked up very soon.

I plan on doing this if I can sort my car next weekend. Will have to see...

Looks a great day though !

  • Author

I suspect it will be fully subscribed by then. Less than 50 spaces to go. 150 sounds like a lot of people on one trackday but it is a massive track :D

  • Author

It would appear this has already sold out, so looks like I am going to be sole Skoda there, and only amongst about 2 maybe 3 dervs. :D

Well I am coming (not in a skoda or a diesel) so will see you there, that is if I can find my way that far south.

You should see if you can borrow a mounted video camera and see if you can film footage of you killing other cars :)

  • Author

I have a "DIY" camera mount so will be using it when I am not PAX'ing other people around.

See you there, Simon! If you're not in a Skoda, come find me!

17 Toyota Prius (Supercharged)

:eek::eek:

I did  at that. A bit like "Diet Cola, with added sugar, caffeine and calories"

  • 3 weeks later...

APPARENTLY, there's a couple of spaces opened up on this due to dropouts. Get yourself on Northloop to take them if you fancy coming along to this! :D

How many sets of tyres are you taking for this tyre shredding event? Does sound like something different from yer normal trackday though. Have fun.

  • Author

Aiming to do both trackdays, including this MOD one, on the same set of tyres, including travel to & from. :) It's a nice smooth surface apparently so not expexting to lose much tread. Will do a front to back swap if I find I am wearing the fronts a little hard.
