Fabia Rs Piccie

Featured Replies

I'm feeling a little stupid right now. I have found a nice piccie of a red Fabia RS at some motorshow somewhere or other. The trouble is the piccie is 122K and too large to attach to this thread. :(

Can someone give their OK to me emailing them this piccie for them to de-size a bit and attach it themselves? Our PCs at work use Internet Explorer to view piccies, and you can't do nowt but view 'em! I'd email it to myself at home but I thought some of you may want to take a look today.

Thanks!

Yer 'tis

Hmmm... the colour doesn't do it any favours at all, does it??!

The new-look fog-light area looks pretty good... as do the alloys. Apart from the upgraded interior (which you can't see) it looks pretty 'standard' TBH...

I may be responsible for the funny colour - Jason asked me to lighten the pic a little as the foglight area was in shadow. Here's the original colour:

Ahhh, I see why you had to lighten it now :-)

Still - it doesn't jump out and grab you as being particularly different from any other fabia, does it?

If they had managed to get an 180bhp lump into it, it would have shifted...

Thanks for doing that, Nick - much appreciated.

I thought the piccie looked quite good in the flesh, but as stated, the alloys do not look as special as the RS alloys, or even my new ones for that matter. Although it had a front spoiler, I think it could also do with being lowered a fair bit - if only to set it apart from other Fabias. I don't see a rear spoiler either...? Actually, I'm not even convinced its an RS. It came from webshots, and I'm not sure how much the person assigning names to the piccie knew about the car (he/she could have been naming 100 photos of cars at that show)

Well it will get the PD130 at this point in time.

The PD 130 will/should with maybe some more work compared to a PD150 get you 198BH and 307ish torque.

Not lightning of the line, but should be an interesting drive. It is a shame there's no 1.8T variant...would be a very nice little beast if they did. Still can't get my head around the VAG structure, Skoda being active in WRC and baaa soapbox...

ps,

See the news articles from the front page of the site for a fabia rs article with a collection of pictures.

Hmmm. I don't know much about the 1.8T engine in the Audi A3, but I think there should be nothing stopping them putting one in the Fabia...(unless they don't want to drag sales away from Audi?) I think they'd sell a lot more 1.8T Fabia's and reap the benefit that way. Time for that soapbox again, eh?

The new ibiza (fabia's nearest competition) gets the PD130 and 1.8T as Seat is the "Sports" divison of VAG, give or take WRC, ETCC, 1936 Monte Carlo Rally, The company's maiden competitive appearance came on no less an event than the 1901 Paris-Berlin endurance classic. Nope no natural sporting heritage in Skoda atall...Still I think a diesel "hot hatch" is a really really good move, lower insurance than a pug 206GTI even when modified I'd guess.

Not just the A3, but also Leon, Ibiza, Polo and Golf sales. Technically, it should be feasible - it's just that Uncle VAG have aspirations for Skoda that differ from ours, hence the "It's a Volkswagen, honest!" Tudor, the planned 225 BHP Leon Cupra, etc...

They've built Skoda up, only to knock it down again, it seems.

I notice in the 'lightened' Pic that the No Plate states 'Fabia RS' , note no 'v' prefix! I agree that Corrida Red doesnt show it off under those lights at the show , tho it may be a different story under natural light. Personally i think it will look great in Black Magic , as it will contrast with the grey/black seats better (IMO). Im tempted to take a test drive of the Fabia RS when it comes out , altho I'm not sure theres enough there to keep my interest after the 'new car feeling' wears off!

Yep - I agree. The black Fabia vRS in Colin's gallery looks much better than the thing I found. Did I spot a six speed gearbox? I think I did. I like it, and I WANT ONE!

Devon

Yes the vRS will be a 6 speeder , basically its the same engine and gearbox that is fitted to the Superb and the new PD Octavias (and of course Golf ect) Price is uncertain as of yet , Id reckon its gonna be around the 13K mark tho , so start saving those pennies!
