columbus "quirk" or am i being stupid ?

Featured Replies

this might be a silly question but I can figure it out

if i am playing music then I pause it (from the hard drive) as i want some quiet time....when i get out of the car and turn the ignition off the columbus unit turns off. When i get in the car and turn the ignition on the music comes back on - ie it resumes play rather than staying in pause mode. This is particualrly annoying if he car has been stood for a while and the columbus has gone into full shutdown - ie it performs the start up routine again. There is no way of pausing the music when the unit is booting up (other than turning the whole unsit off but i dont want this as i want th parking sensors display)

is there anyway of making the columbus resume in the state it was last in ?

This is standard for the majority of musical devices :)

why ?

the oposite is not true - ie it can resume the music where yo last left off even if a full reboot has taken place so why cant it stay in pause mode. my MP3 player does.

There is another annoying thing for me regarding music.I turn off the care and leave it.The next day I enter the car and I rotate the key to the first "step" and it starts to play in about 1-2 seconds, but when I turn on the engine it cuts off the power of the HU and I have to wait 10-20 seconds until the music starts to play...

This is because the columbus is rebooted due to the drain on the battery. When you first unlock the car, the columbus boot processes is started before you turn the key, to start the car all the power is needed so the power to the HU is cut buy the ECU until the engine is running. The columbus takes about 10 secs to boot to a usable state, and a further 10 seconds or so for all functions to become available.

The car will cut power to everything to start the starter motor, hence the stereo goes off

The parking display works whether the Columbus is on or off.
