Grrrrr, foofing van driver

Featured Replies

On my way to w*rk tonight and I dropped down a road which merges with another, both having their own lane but me needing to move to the right from the left. As I descended I checked to the right which was clear, indicated and began moving over. As I started I heard a white van which I had seen some way back accelerate to try and stop me. I was fully in my new lane when he finally caught me up and blasted on the horn at me. I signaled my appreciation of his diplomacy and continued on to a stop at the lights at the roundabout. He moved to the left lane and when the lights changed he surged half a length in front and moved across onto me, and as there were two in the van against my one I decided to avoid an accident as I would be mullered in a blame seeking exercise on any insurance claim. He pulled in front and gestured out of his window, to which I considered getting out and lamping them both. I kept my cool somehow and we moved off as the lights changed. I noticed the car in front of him was quite a slow driver, moving off at a steady pace, so I took the opportunity to move into the next lane as the next lights were at red also with no-one waiting, leaving me a clear run at green. I waved him goodbye as the lights changed and he got stuck behind the old gimmer in the Hyundai Accident, whilst I blasted up the slip and onto the motorway.

No need, and ultimately, HE LOST !!!

These things are sent to test us, and to rise above it is the best thing.

"How fascinating!" was the response a training chap gave us the other day, as a reponse to the daily trials and tribulations we face. :D

F*ckin' van drivers. Wish they'd burn!

From your description I would have to question why you moved over to the right if you could have stayed in the left lane all the way ? Or have I read it wrong ?

You've read it wrong, or I wasn't clear. Right lane takes you around for exit 3, 4. Left lane(s) for exit 1 and 2 only. He used the left lane to get ahead and then cut in on me.

I've noticed that the Fabia vrs does tend to **** other drivers off for some reason. This is only a fairly recent thing. Is it because the secret is out? I never had aggro when i first got the car but now loads of people try to take me on. I just don't bother. Does this happen with Octys or do people still think you are the fuzz in those:D

I see most Octy's as taxi's :D And we've got one  I had to strongly resist commenting on some pics of a meet which looked like a taxi rank on here :P

There's lots of fun to be had when pootling along at the limit with some idiot right up your chuff and seeing them getting ready to vape you as an overtake opportunity is coming, only to see them limp back in behind you, tail between their legs when you hit the loud pedal at the right moment. 312 lb/ft in a small 2WD car is quite potent :D

Hey I drive vans on ocassions, and I would not act like that, only socially de-evolved ape's with the IQ's of a Bluetit and the social skills of a rotten Lepper will do it.

It's probally coz I drive a skoda :D

so when you first changed lanes the van was close enough for you to hear it accelerate? that's quite close

I always have my windows open with wind deflectors fitted, so it is very easy to hear the actions of other drivers. He definitely wasn't close enough for me not to make the move, but he definitely accelerated to close the gap deliberately. I see this more and more nowadays with no-one liking to give way to anyone and being particularly aggrieved at anyone having the audacity to overtake. I am a demon over-taker, so see this a lot :D

Van driver would be playing Lady Ga Ga's new song ....... BROKENFACE !!!

I'm afraid its motoring karma for the vrs drivers who do the same to me...

:sofahide:

I drive a Nissan Primastar quite a lot (in white :) ) it's only got 115 BHP so if someone pulls out in front of me it takes a while to get back up to speed. 99% of the time I let it go unless I really have to slam the anchors on to avoid them! Them they'll get some full beams and sarcastic hand claps.

It doesn't half make me appreciate the FR more when I get the chance to drive it!
