Idea's keeping interior smelling good permanently.

Featured Replies

Hello One & All,

Have tried numerous types of aromatic apparatus but none do a good job, very long.

Them little hang-up thingy's behind the mirror, smell once out the packet, but does not fill the car, and become ornamental within a couple of days.

Aerosols whether hand used or battery powered can effect upholstery, with staining.

The one's that sit/clip on the facia vent, tend to keep vent partially open, and keep falling onto the floor.

At present, got a little battery powered driven fan with perfume container holding oil based liquid, wedged in door pocket with a cloth, to keep it from moving about.

Open to your idea's and experiences. how you get around it.

Thanks. Ian. 20/05/2009 :)

Moved to the appropriate forum.

I find taking a shower regularly means it won't smell bad in the first place ;)

I use AG Autofresh, smells nice :)

But I'm really curious about CG New Car Smell

spray the pollen filter with a whole can of lynx atlantis, lasts ages and the women well need i say more, im sure you've seen the adverts!

autofresh is ok but not great, CG new car smell is probably the best I've experienced

baking soda is an excellent smell absorber - just don't spill it or else you might have an interesting moment if stopped by the police

Might be worth trying Avon Naturals fabric and linen freshener. very nice smell, lasts a good while and comes in a small pump action spray, designed to go on fabrics etc so wont mark the seats and the smell lasts for ages.

Just gave mine another squirt of the mango one the wife uses for the ironing...dunno what it costs but I'm guessing about a pouind as the missus is a tightarse...lol

As above, AutoGlym Autofresh good or New Car Smell, even better :)

Many thanks to everyone, never dawned on me to spray pollen filter.

Have noticed smell of windscreen washer additive comes through in seconds, never thought it must be the pollen filter allowing it. sometimes the obvious isn't so obvious.

As to the varieties, I rather like the new car smell, as it is a smell all of it's own, I remember it, when I first had the car from new.

Once again thanks for all your input.

Hello "apinner"

Not quite sure "Moved to the appropiate forum" ?? you or my thread ??

If thread, would you give us a clue which heading you moved it to, so it can found please.

Still new to these threads, I did do a search, and found nothing.

Thanks for info. Ian. 21/05/2009

Just that it's been moved into the Styling and Car Care section of the forum, from whichever section your started it in. It's so that relevant threads are all kept together and it makes it a little easier to find things :)

I have to agree with BASIL. I use Baking Soda on the upholstery. Leave a sprinkling of it on the seats and carpets for a few hours and then vacuum it off. It won't make your car smell but it absorbs any odours from the fabric. Guess I've been watching too much Kim and Agie on channel 4 as they use it on all carpets etc in the home. Also at about 60p a tub from the supermarket its a bargain.

i really rate the car-jar air freshners from yankee-doodle.co.uk

the leather car-jar is especially nice, just bung it under a seat of whatever and you get that new leather smell for ages, tasty :D

christmas cookie is almost awesome :)

hello there, have you contemplated essential oils, long lasting and theraputic too. Dropped onto my morcambe and wise red nose hanging faces is and inconspicuous play too. Even herbal cold inhalent is rather good too, smells hmm and keeps those nasal passages clear too!
