Overworked and underserviced. So it happened. Cambelt gave up!

No comments needed about my stupidity as my back still has no skin from self flagellation!! I'm past stripping and rebuilding engines nowadays specially high compression turbos, so I'm desperately trying to find something positive... Difficult but maybe someone wants it. Should I advertise it as a project, put it straight into classifieds.......or take it down the scrapyard.

How bad is it? Have you had someone look at it?

Thanks for the comments. The AA bloke who towed it back had a tweaked Impreza (so I assume he new what he was talking about) said the cam belt had definitely gone. He phoned a good garage he new for a quote and they said about £6000!!

That has to be the answer. there's lots of 1.8T engines about, and a day's labour should see it done.

Why not get a quote from a garage?

The 6k price would be new engine, I reckon.

buy an engine and get an independant to fit it, possibly 1k outlay seems worth it if the car is in good nick.

looking on the trader the cars worth 5-6k if it doesn't have galactic milage and covered in dents and scratches

Out of interest what mileage had the car done when cambelt went?

Also what colour is the vRS and where are you located?

The car has been well worked but no dents. Small marks on the corners because of London cowboys but it's been used as an executive vehicle so standard has to be high. It's done 119,000 miles and it's silver.
