Fabia VRS - broke down after five hundred miles

Featured Replies

Hi

Simon from Bristol.

Picked up my new Fabia VRs last Thursday. Broke down on Monday inTruro.

Apparently the Turbo siezed. No spares in the country so have to wait two weeks to get my new car back.

AA Relay plus worked well, have a loan car from my dealer.

Jury still out on this one. :finger:

Oh dear :(

Hope you get it sorted soon. Can't remember hearing of any other failures like this so hope it's a one-off.

Welcome to Briskoda :wave23d:

Welcome.

Oh dear indeed. Hope it gets sorted soon and you can start using it.

I think it was the Cornish air mate. I only ever drive in Cornwall if I know I'm gonna be back in Devon the same day, just to protect valuable engine components. ;)

Sorry to hear about your bad start to vRS ownership. Welcome though!

eeek!

unlucky dude! First I've heard of a fabia breaking down :(

Hope it gets sorted and it doesn't tarnish the vrs experience!

I can think of a lot worse places to breakdown - but them I am Cornish so I suppose I'm a little biased

That's really bad luck, Simon. But at least you are in the right place to get sympathy from fellow Skoda owners. :grouphug:

Bad luck.

Did it breakdown completely? ie. engine conked out? Wouldn't've thought the turbo seizing would cause that...but then again, what do I know?

Just wanted to say I've nothing against Cornwall - bit of friendly banter that's all ;)

Very unlucky indeed - don't think we've heard of anyone else that has had that problem :( I would imagine that Skoda UK would be very embarrased about and should give you full recompense - if they don't you can always start pressing for a completely new car (original not fit for use) and compensation. Good luck anyway

This was quite common on the 150PD Golf's but I've not heard of it on a 130PD before.

BTW welcome and hope you get it sorted.

At least you got 500 miles. My Dad had an old Ford Sierra years back he picked up new from the garage and it broke down after 500 yards. Literally had gone to the first set of lights, turned right, and broke down along that road. He went back to the garage who said they were out at lunch. When he said he picked uup the car today and the street it had stopped on tey summoned the recovery truck immediatly!

Is the AA cover a full cover or do you have to pay to cover things like flat tyres, like reno do!

Cheers for the sympathy everyone. Glad to hear its a one off. Problem was a siezed Turbo, item has been despatched to Germay for investigation. Dealer was great, very apologetic. Makes a nice change from the citroen/peugot/vauxhall dealers I have had to deal with previously.

Picked the car up this am, so far so good. going to take it down to Poole tomorrow, so fingers crossed.

Was given an Octavia Ambiente Se for a loan car, very nice. Prefer my little car though.

yay:)

Good to hear that your car is back on the road again. Now get on and enjoy it. :D
