Be better to get an Octavia 4x4 and spec it to a vRS.

I guess it's too do with the brand heiarchy in VAG

lol spose if the octy was 4x4 it would be better that a lot of other vag cars. specially when tuned up a bit.

I still think it would of been better with the BAM engin in even if only FWD, but again it would of been better than the LCR. lol

cant have a skoda better than a seat, or a seat better than a VW.

Bugatti

Bently I think is VAG

Audi

VW

Seat

Skoda

is the order.

I've grown up with a VW nut for a father, 1972 Beetle, 1966 Beetle, type 2 camper, Mk1 Scirroco (best handling car in1977 :D ) various Golfs, 2 passats and now a T4 camper conversion(very nice!) I have had 4 Passats (Mk1 Estate-far to quick for a normally aspirated 1.8! Mk1 GL5-even quicker, B4 1.9tdi-ran on fresh air but boy was it **** going round corners and a B5.5 1.9tdi PD130(SWMBO's now), a Golf, and even a Polo Countryman . I can honestly say that both my dad and I think that my Octy 4x4 is possible one of the best cars "we" have ever had. Can't wait to get the suspension sorted next and get to some track days as the old man used to race sports cars in the sixties, so should be fun :D

plus 4x4 looks are a understated compared to the VRS so make a good sleeper

Another vote for starting by buying a 4x4, tuning and lowering it, and maybe doing some styling work.

You'd need the rear suspension, rear floor, tunnel?, propshaft, gearbox and Haldex out a 4x4 to do the conversion on a vRS.

4x4's start at half the price of a vRS on't trader and are higher spec'd :)

.....and slower.....and don't corner as well.....and don't look as good etc, etc, etc as some bald bloke once said. :P

was that you des?

lol

if your going BT then they will end up faster, i still don't believe the handling difference as they use the exact same front end but they gain a rear anti-roll bar and independant suspension and the only looks difference is a small rear spoiler and the front bumper which are easily changed. sounds more like your trying defend your purchase Des ;)

but seeing as they're both ugly boats anyway does it really matter...:P

much more fun embarassing the Corsa brigade in a 4x4 than a VRs !!

I prefer the interior of the vRS.

the white is a pig but still ace and it makes the car. It also shows how much you care about your car.

even if i manage to get the R32 seats they will be gettin reapolstered so there is the white cloth on the bottom and back. some how ne way. and the R32 badge will be gettin covered with a vRS coloured patch put on nicely lol.

or its a loto win and the RS4 ones done same way lol.

Again all text book stuff as usual.

Put one on the track and see what happens to your 4x4 or you can ask Colin what they are like at cornering on the edge. I've dodged them plenty of times. :D

The vRS still looks better and it's faster. :P

lol. You two remind me of the banter with Paul and Ian's ambulance.

Same result, the vRS was better.

The 4x4 is only good for one thing, traffic light grand prix

give the funds I recon the Octavia(any varient) can be made faster than a lot of cars.

but its all down to funds.

thats my thoughts ne way. Not worth much really.lol

lol cant see Des lettin this one go.

I agree tho, mainly coz I am biast. end of the day tho is jus the same a a std 2wd octy with a diff engine and a few braces here and there lol. tis the same chassis.

I would like to see under a 4x4 tho for my self to see the actual diff in them. or is the 4x4 jus got bolt on bits to make it 4x4 or is it the actual chassis design?

if that makes sence?

Anyway back on topic.

well, i thought any vag tuned 4x4 would beat a vrs or other 2wd tuned vag car once the power got over the 250 ish mark..............until i went i the red devil!!!

I had a 4x4 prior to my vrs, and as a tuneable car its great, but they may be half the price of the vrs, however when you add to that the price of v3s plus full h&r arbs plus decent brakes and a remap you will spend more than you would on a vrs (not including any styling)......with a bit of money though you can have a great car like Bengies!

The 4x4 might be better for general driving and all round bad weather driving, but on a track there is too much interaction from the esp/4x4 system trying to control the situation and limiting your speed (say hooning it round a corner where things start to let go), you can eventually go past the point of correction (where the car cant help you out anymore) and you will then lose it, where as you have more control in that situation with the 2wd if that makes sense.....thats right isnt it Des?

I want both really:rolleyes:
