My vRS has arrived

Featured Replies

I rang the dealership today for my weekly status update and my vRS arrived into them today

Its going to be a long 7 days wait though as they need to fit the eibach's and get JBS in to do the revo work on it and that won't be done in time for the weekend and I can't get there then till friday due to work commitments.

I just need to arrange a thatcham cat2 immobiliser to keep the insurance happy :(

Anyone had any dealings with a Toad Powerkey or the company below?

Found one installed for

thats great news i thought it had an imobiliser tho

It has both an alarm and an immobiliser but apparently neither are thatcham approved :thumbdwn:

My insurance company won't touch it due to the modifications unless its got a thatcham cat2 immobiliser installed.

I couldn't believe it when i got off the phone to skoda....all vw's/audi's are thatcham'd apparently

hum whats the model name of the skoda alarm and stuff ??

im ok directline didnt evenask about security

Skoda

Security System II

TE2

Your dealer are fitting Eibachs and chipping it for you? Hows that work then?

Sounds like your dealer is very easy going.

Standard alarm/immobiliser are definatelyThatchham cat 2 approved.

immobilisers are only cat 2

alarm and immobilisers are cat 1

I rang Skoda customer services when I got mine and the alarm on the Elegance is, according to them, Thatcham Cat 1 approved. I assume the vRS has the same unit?

Sounds like i need to get back onto skoda tomorrow and talk to them again to make sure the guy i spoke too had his facts straight.

The person i spoke too where i might be getting the Toad from thought it was very strange them not fitting thatcham approved. He even thought they had too by law after a certain production date of a couple of years ago.

I'm confused now....

But at least I'm getting the car soo :)

From the May 2004 Fabia brochure....

All Fabia's are fitted with a Thatcham Cat2 immobiliser.

all fabias are fitted with cat one i just looked :)

Yeah.... I dont remember seeing those on the options list! :P

If only they were.! :D

Only Elegance and vRS have Alarm systems.

Thatcham Catagory 2 is for rating immobilisers.

Thatcham Catagory 1 is for rating Alarms.

All Fabia's have a Thatcham approved immobiliser.

The Elegance and vRS have an alarm system, it's not clear in the Skoda brochure if the Alarm is Thatcham approved but the immobiliser system with transponder in the key definately is.

He even thought they had too by law after a certain production date of a couple of years ago.

According to www.crimereduction.gov.uk/vrcat1.htm, every new car has had to have an immobiliser fitted under EU law since 1998. However, as it's a European law, the Thatcham standard wouldn't necessarily apply. I'd be very surprised if the Skoda immobiliser / alarm wasn't Thatcham Cat 2 / 1, though, as I'm certain they are in my vRS...

I just got off the phone to skoda uk or the second time today :(

I really am not impressed with them at all!

They first said that the immobiliser definately isn't thatcham approved so after 5 minutes arguing with them they finally gave me the number of a retailer to clarify as they don't have a technical department to talk too !

I rang the dealer and apparently all models of all skoda's come fitted with a thatcham cat2 immobiliser. Its a laserline 989.

I rang skoda straight back to tell them this and the lady i spoke too just laughed and said she would update her details.

What a joke !

At least you guys told me the real story! Thanks for saving me

well if you read the thatcham website it lists every car and immobiliser/alarm and tells you their rating and it says every fabia after a certain year has the cat 1 alarm/immobiliser combination so who knows lol
