Oil in Skodas

Featured Replies

I mailed Oilman aka Guy about the oil products his company supplies and this is what I got back with may help some of you out there.

"Ivan,

Thanks for your mail.

For the PD engine I would recommend the Fuchs Titan Supersyn SL PD 5w-40.

The PD engines require specific oil so unfortunately there is not much choice however the oil I have mentioned above was used for the factory fill.

It will have no problems at all dealing with the upgrade its used in cars up to 200 bhp.

Please find attached a full price list including carriage to anywhere in the mainland UK.

Tech specs here http://www.opieoils.co.uk/lubricants.htm

Regards

Guy."

Got the same reply myself. Seems like a good oil choice for the fabia vrs.

Millers would be O.k. but I've noticed that it's only semi synthetic which makes the fully synthetic Fuch's a better choice if you're going to give your fabia some hammer.

I also noticed that the option to buy 10 litres in 1 litre bottles is the most cost efective. It's enough for 2 fills with some extra for top up in between.

I will be ordering mine soon and insisting the dealer uses my oil at service time.

If I had a Fabia vRS I too would choose Fuchs Titan Supersyn SL PD SAE 5W/40 in preference to Millers XF PDE since the former should be the superior oil being fully synthetic.

One thing to note is that this oil is not suitable if the car is set for variable service intervals (i.e. it's not serviced every 10,000 miles).

If you are doing variable intervals, then you need Titan Supersyn SL Longlife Plus 0W30.

I'm not sure if the vRS can have variable servicing, but I'm guessing it can based on the fact that every other PD130 engine supports it.

Bagpuss.

Bagpuss.[/quote']The Fabia vRS is an exception in that it is on fixed service intervals so needs a 505 01 oil.

Good work chaps.

The price list has changed a little. Currently the Fuchs oil is not affected so no need to worry.

Feel free to ask if you have any questions at all regarding oil.

Remember I own a Skoda also.

Cheers

Guy.
