engine bay rattling @ approx 1800rpm solved

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

Just wanted to share this with you:

my octavia had an annoying rattle coming from the engine bay around 1800 rpm, no matter in which gear...

I finally found the root cause yesterday:

it turned out to be the rod to keep the bonnet open that was sitting against the piece of metal between the lights which also contains the bonnet lock (don't know the english word for it sorry)

I've put some tape around the rod wher it was hitting the metal piece and I have a rattle free octavia again

cheers

B

I remember having a similar rattle on a previous car and it turned out to be a metal tag that was loose on a pipe and rattling around! It's always the small things! :)

Tell me about it......

I've been trying too track an annoying rattle for days,to the point where I even had my daughter in the boot in an Asda car park (got some looks when I let her out lol) Fair play she was useless at finding the rattle:(

Pulled up the other day and someone said "you got no brake light" I'd changed the bulbs a few days ago and one had fallen out :o:O

And neither does anyone else, presuming there actually is one! ;)

I think it's called the Slam Panel. Do I get a bonus point? :D
