How do you use mp3 CDs?

Featured Replies

My new Roomster 3 has a Dance Radio/CD player and the manual says it can play mp3 CDs. Does anyone know if I just copy the mp3 folders from my PC onto a recordable CD then they'll play please?

Thats it. Just make sure they are burnt as mp3/data rather audio which are .cda files iirc.

You'll know as you'll fit loads on one disk !!!

Excellent, thanks very much. I presume they just need copying rather than burning with itunes or similar.

Yep.

You could in theory drag and drop them into your cd drive folder and burn from within windows. Or just drag them into your burning program and do it that way.

I tunes may want too make them into cda's not sure tbh.

Thanks again, I'll drag & drop them. I'll give it a try tonight.

You might also want to use some decent quality discs as cheapos dont always work in cars, plus burn at the slowest speed you can.

:iagree:

i bought 20 tesco own CD-RW to put MP3's onto and my Kenwood has a paddy, tells me theres an error and won't play! :thumbdwn:

Thanks everyone, it ws easier than I thought by using iTunes. I hadn't realised that when I chose to burn a disc there is an mp3 CD option.

I used Memorex CD-Rs and on a quick try, they seem fine.

Very few car players can handle CD-RW disks as they dont reflect as much of the laser back to the pickup. For CDrs in mine, I use the cheapest I can buy because when I need to change the disk I just throw them away, then just burn them using nero at max speed, never had a problem with my audience or columbus headunit.

Hmmm I first used a couple of Imation CD-RW's and they worked fine but they have got so scratched they skip so its not worth even attempting to reburn them.

I thought straight replacements would work but i guess not but then CD-R's are about 20p so as you say i can just throw them away once i get bored.

I wouldnt use cdrw discs anyway, nothing but trouble and the cost of normal discs is pennies anyway
