Vrs brakes - how much??

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

just got my car back from it's 40K service with advice for new discs and pads, front and rear.

obviously the main dealer will be a rip off ( specialist cars aberdeen) but how much should i be expecting to pay for getting this work done?

i'm waiting for a quote back from the local garage to work (station garage, kintore) who would be easiest for me to get to, but if they are taking the P*** i'll try elsewhere.

any info would be greatly appreciated.

I would guess about £450 inc labour if using OEM bits

I've just added the required parts for standard replacement of front and rear brakes from Motorsport World - Performance Car Parts and that's £151.81 delivered.

Then I'd simply take it to a reputable local garage or independant and have them fitted. Cost would be around 1 hours labour I would have thought, so £60ish for fitting?

Certainly something to think about, ordering the parts required yourself. Or at least you have some benchmark if you are trying other garages. Look up their site and have a look yourself, but that's using EBC parts, which equal OEM items IMO. There are quite a few other options available out there, if you want grooved/drilled discs and a harder compound fast-road pad, for example.

cheers for the responses, cheered me up a lot.

got a response from the local - £375 quid including bits and fitting.

local main stealer was £430 - robbing swine.

it's a job i'd do myself, but as i'm in a flat with no garage / driveway it's not really an option right now.

For a dealer, that is not too bad to be fair. Their hourly rate is higher, and they will be running with more markup.

It does prove it pays to shop around though :)
