Eagle F1 tyres - What are you getting?

Featured Replies

I put a new set of tyres on the front just after christmas 2008. They are now on the markers and I average about 1k a month.

Surely that's pretty poor? The wear seems pretty even, although there is a BIT more left on the very outside (maybe a mm or two).

How long are they lasting other people?

6K is pretty porr for a set of any tyres. I'd be looking at the geometry and getting a 4WA done.

4WA = 4 wheel allignment?

Even if they've worn fairly evenly? :)

6000 miles sounds exceptionally low - I would be looking at my driving style if the wear is even. Do you spin the front wheels a lot? Or are you a fan of heroic cornering?

Never spin the wheels, never floor it in 1st... and it gets full traction in 2nd+ in the dry.

Can't say I corner like a mad man either, infact my girlfriend has been the one driving it for the last 6 or so months and she takes it fairly easy.

Could be, its possible to scrub the tyres along the road evenly.

Are they the new assim; or rotational tread? If its the latter i had them in 225 45 17 and they lasted about 8k.....Newer assims are supposed to give better mileage as this was the only problem with the early ones. Are the tyres wearing through the middle quicker? if so maybe your pressures are to high

my kumho,s on the front have been on for 6 months and there on the limit  done between 7 and 8 k driven how it should be driven hard:D ;)

that is very poor mate,

The worst tyres I had did 16k and they were marangoni mythos, but they would of lasted longer if I remembered to reduce the tp after a loaded run lol. so the centres wore out .

the 712 I have now have done 10k+ and are still pritty deep on tread. mind I dont drive too hard unless I feel devilish

the problem i have is the tyres are very soft and all my miles are on the motorway and it eats them alive but i still want soft tyres for the exceptional grip when toeing it which i seem to do far to often lol:D

just orderd some toyo t1r's

i could go and buy different tyres to last 10 to 15 k but i would lose some of the grip level that i req sometimes ( alot of the time ) and tyre really are not that expensive anymore you only talking £50 to £60 a tyre peanuts if you think you can do that i a night on the bubbly;):D

I have had 28k out of a set of F1's. Infact I still have them on my summer wheels and they are still legal. Great tyres apart from the soggy sidewall and the lethal cold weather performance. If your only getting 6k out of a set you either have a technical problem or you need to learn how to drive.

3 of mine have done 5000 miles and will probably do at least another 5000 but one has turned into a 50 pence piece and has cuffed the outside edge off.

Had 4 wheel alignment no problems was spot on.Had an mot last week and asked the mot man to check the rear end and suspension no problems found( passed first time).Dont know what to do now.Have put the standard 16's back on at the moment because they are not £100 per corner.

Also noticed fuel consumption is better now with standard tyres( + 3 mpg)

£100 a corner where do you shop try camskill mate

for 17" ones its cheap but for 18" its nearer 90 a corner for good tyres.

i found the sp712 really grippy in dry warmish conditions but soon as its damp or wet they are very poor and grip goes out the window. but so long as you know this then its fine as you drive to the conditions lol

28k

"Need to learn how to drive", I can drive perfectly well thanks and as stated before my girlfriend has been driving it mostly (she has been driving for 10 years).

Might see if I can get a 4 wheel allignment then. 4x4t, where did you go for yours? I heard there was a hunter machine near us (which from what i've read is the best for this).

I'm tempted to order a set of T1Rs and see how I get on with them...

On my teg, I got 12k out of my last set of Eagle F1s. And that's with quite a lot of spirited driving... ;)

i wouldnt pay to much attention to the 28k miles and his tyre still have life it because he prob drives like a granny in his roomster

learn how to drive lol :D what makes you a better driver???

if i was o put a set of r888 they would prob last 4k would that make me a bad driver ???? :P

YOU DRIVE LIKE A GRANNY :P

My fronts (F1 gsd 3) look set to last about 12,000 miles .....but I don't think I have ever had any tyre last longer than 16,000 on any of my FWD cars....so for the amount of grip I get from them I will put up with it and maybe try something else when I kill off the rears ( could take years ....event tyres....rubbish but won't wear out)

Last set I had were NCT5's they lasted about 9/10k - not impressed. Perhaps its a Goodyear thing?

My mate put some R888s on his 205 mi16.... lasted 1.5k miles!! Bloody insane amounts of grip though.

I know the F1s are very soft compound, but I was hoping for ~10k or so not 6.

I think Decron is on about his fabia.

And when he says learn too drive, I guess he means smoothly and fluidly, which in turn makes the tyres last a lot longer.

So I'm told :o:O:O:O

12 K roughly here....on Toyos(I need too learn too drive as well)

that could be how mine last so loln as most the time I am steady and it has been known that on the drives from Bristol/ Cardiff to Brawdy I never uses the breaks till I need to stop at the gate to check ID lol.

It is about smooth driving, heavy breakin also ruins them, along with turnin sharp, I not a slow driver on norm roads(slowest I norm drive is on the motorway)in comparison to the speed limit.

My grandfather got 34k out of some normal cheap tyres once bout 15yr ago on his vauxhall (? the one that got replaced wi the vectra) and he used to tow the caravan and do lots of drivin. again I think I got it from him.

I personaly wouldnt be happy with any tyre that gave me less than 15k. specially the price of the F1's

wont be gettin them then lol. TR1's it is.jus look after them

Get 15k out of the Conti's i've got at the moment i can live with that better than the 8k used to get out of Toyo T1S, going to try the T1R's next.

£100 a corner where do you shop try camskill mate

Thanks mate.Very good prices.
