Whats the Differance ??

Featured Replies

Hi

I have been wondering what the differance between the TDi being all Red and the TD Black and the i being Red ??

Timelord.

If we are talking VW ?

The TDI was to designate the 150 bhp engine in the previous 1.9 engines, used in the Golf/Bora (had one in my VW Bora , a fine piece of kit, but smokey).

As far as I know, TDI was the 130 engine and the TDI the 115 (?)

Any help ?

As above, except if you have a search round the internet you will find dozens of exceptions to the rule!!!

So whilst it may be mildly interesting, I would never suggest buying a 2nd hand car, for example, on the basis of the badge colour!

Ahhh it depends on the age of the car. I had a PD100 which had a TDI badge

The engines previous to the PD only came in 90 and 110bhp form

TDI was the 1.9 TDI 110 in most cases but skoda also use it for the 2.0 TDI 140.

As said there are many exceptions to the rule too.

Yep. It's all over the place. At first:

All slver= TDI90

Red I= TDI 110

Red DI= TDI 115 then 130 or the 3cyl 75 - basically the PD engines.

All Red= TDI 150.

But it has changed, and people fit different badges. The only reliable answer to power is to check the engine code.

On the current fabia range the black one is for the 1.4tdi and the red for the 1.9tdi.

And theres the Skoda based Fabia 2 answer he was lookling for :)

However to add further confusion to the VW scenario SWMBO's dad's PD150 Golf is badged GTI

indeed, thanks guys :D

Funny you should say that as my sisters boyfriend has a Golf 150bhp TDi and it is badged as a GTi

I had suspicions that the badging will be assigned as so, in respects the 1.4TDi and 1.9Tdi :D

Well we have a 1.9 TDI Fabia Sport, so what does that make it?

That makes it a 105bhp, the same as my Fabia 1.9tdi 3.
