skoda octavia 1,8t agu engine 150 bhp

me 3,8,2/3 ecu

im sure that is the same engine and turbo just map restricted so in theory a map should see you past the 200bhp??????

have you got the pic of the rr print out you can put up on here???

plus the torgue is very good but should hopld boost much better

276 newton meter = 203.567 152 65 pound foot

Not good:thumbdwn:

the turbo's are different to the auq 180bhp standard engine. dont hold me to that but thats wot iv been told

oh yes read wrong not good:mad:

if its running k03s then there is a problem if its running k03 then still not good but not as bad

i agree

The following versions of the 1.8T engine can be found fitted to the UK-spec Octavia with manual gearbox:

AGU 110KW/150bhp Octavia FWD 10/96 > 07/00

AUM 110kW/150bhp Octavia FWD 08/00 >

ARX 110kW/150bhp Octavia 4X4 08/00 >

AUQ 132kW/180bhp Octavia vRS 12/00 >

Dealing with the 3 current engines first, the AUM, ARX and AUQ share the same block, cylinder head, internal parts, intake system and throttle valve control unit, turbocharger, charge air cooler, exhaust manifold, injectors, spark plugs, lubrication system and fuel system (excluding fuel tank etc). Apart from the fact that the ARX (4X4) has a different return oil line for the turbocharger, and the AUQ (vRS) one different boot (rubber seal/pipe) on the charge air cooler, the 3 engines are identical. The ECUs for all 3 engines do however differ, as do the exhausts. The same clutch is used on all 3 engines (and by the AGU). The AUQ is fitted with a different crankshaft impulse sender to the AGU, AUM and ARX; and the AGU and AUQ use the same knock sensor and harness, while the AUM and ARX both use a different anti-knock sensor.

The AGU was fitted to the UK-spec Octavia 1.8T FWD between 10/96 and 07/00 and remains in production for other markets. Whilst the engine is substantially the same mechanically as the AUM, ARX and AUQ, the cylinder block and pistons are different, as are the cylinder head with valves and camshaft. Specifically, the cylinder head, camshafts, pistons, con rods and bearing shells are different, but the crankshaft, vibration damper, flywheel and clutch are the same. Other differences include the cable throttle, smaller injectors and turbocharger, and the absence of VVT. These differences mean that it is not as tuneable as the later versions. Moreover, unlike the later engines, the AGU was not designed for variable (extended) service intervals.

NB. The ARX initially shared the same turbocharger as the AGU, but from May 2001 is fitted with the same turbocharger as the AUM and AUQ.

here is dyno

mmm

I had an upsolute map on mine mate and it was ****e! felt good to bout 3k rpm then it fell off a cliff and the boost was non igsistant really.

billy

203lb-ft is pretty good for a mapped 150bhp turbo, as standard they make 155lb-ft. the 165bhp is a bit poor though. i have a re-mapped elegance turbo and mine makes 197bhp and 193lb-ft. if you take in to account the 225bhp engine only makes 206lb-ft. not sure about the boost figures tho

have you got a graph that shows the boost etc or did you just get the power run??.......

yep torque is good for that car..

power curve looks okay but well under where it should be .......

there you go mate. the Green line is the Upsolute and the Red is std map and the Purple is RS Tuning custom map.

got the rpm rong tho lol its 3500 it dropped. felt lots wors on the road tho

yes and they told me that this map is on 50 cars and send me dyno prints od one car that shows 190 bhp

so tomorrow they will put new map and dyno car again but i do not know what i m disappointed

i have so many modifications on car and so bed result

one thing i would say that engine is very limited on the tuning front:O

  • Author

i know but 15 bhp only thats very bed

i think i cen get out of this engine at least 180 bhp

sorry took a while to load to fotobucket lol

this is the boost curves of the 3 maps.

the Upsolute**** one was on the car for a while and the std map(not my original) was only loaded that day to do the runs so Paul thsn had something to work from.

billy

your boost doesnt hold that well does it im sure mine holds 1 ba for alot longer than that:thumbup:

massive difference between the 3 why change lol

Nice and rich there Billy

My generic map holds boost slightly better at the end but yours peaks a bit higher.

Looks like all the puff of the turbo is used at first with 1.3 bar which is high and leaves nothing later on when BHP is produced.

The upsolute map is ****e , several members on here have tried them in the past and then had the map removed and a refund given. The shortest time an upsolute map lasted on one members car was about 10mins as it really is bad.

It is better that it was on a few goes lol, I only had a std TIP on then and the std DP, Paul found it quite hard to get it to stay up but after a few goes mannaged to get it to that lol.

If you look at my history mate youll see I went for a RED DOT remap (custom) and they only got 196bhp and 202lb ft. all std car. felt nice but after 2 days threw up faults. then went back and the fettled a tad but no change after 2/3 days it threw a fault. then went back(350 mile round trip) to return to std map. All was ace no trouble at all. so called in again to get the NEW map on. drove home all ok just not as powerfull as before but still a tad more than std. stopped a few times on way and got back to cardiff(the best eco ever 46.8mpg) thought this is good for a good run.

after 2-3 hr went to start the car and nothin lol, didnt start. no fuel or fire.

got a refund from them but cost £150 for a fella in the valleys to take out the ECU and wipe the chip and reflash it with a std map.

left it like that for a yr ish and thought about tryin another lol. so went to see an APR fella near Haverfordwest one weekend I was stuck at camp. Got the Trial on there and to start it was nice very powerful and strong.

Wasnt so keen tho for just driving as it didnt seem to run smooth under steady accel(jumped a tad same with the RED DOT one) Both were good flat out but no good to just drive nice n steady.

but I still wanted to get her done so found the UPSOLUTE one that seemed good and good money and the fella would come to me so I got it done. at the time due to previouse exp lol I figured that there was no such thing as a smooth map.

the upsolute map was good so long as you kept the revs to bellow 3-3.5k as at that you flew forward and it was really bad. I left it for a while and got all the mods done. then bit the bullet and went for a proper custom one as I am not convinced wi generic ones. Looked at Vsport in newcastle and was warned off them so thought Id go to Leeds as it was close and so glad I did now!

good thing is now I jus need to go in and get it tweeked with every mod I do ie. TIP(cheap ff ebay lol:thumbup:)

my life story lol

billy

Westallc, that is some detailed info there. I always thought there was more difference between the 180bhp vRS and the 150bhp 1.8T.

Certainly, when I have looked at remap websites they always claim they can get more additional bhp from the AUQ engine than from the AUM and ARX models.

For example, Star Performance in Fife reckon they can guarantee 205bhp from the vRS but only between 180 and 200 from the 1.8T. Why would the standard 1.8T be so much harder to tune? Perhaps the vRS simply gets 'cherry picked' engines from the same production line as the 1.8T?
