I have an 80 year old great aunt in Grantham who's husband bought a brand new (Brown) Datsun Cherry in about 1984. Neither were big drivers as they were retired and he died not long after buying it. She occasionally drives the 2 mile round trip to do the shopping but rarely ventures further than that.

Two funny stories.

First was when my dad went to stay a few years back. He drove her to the shops and she suddenly freaked out when he changed gear.

Aunt "What did you just do?!" Dad "I just put it into fifth" Aunt "It has five gears?"

She took it for it's yearly service and MOT this spring and the mechanic told her it flew through with only one problem. The odometer was faulty. That was until he checked it with the boss who pointed out the service history. 17000 is actually all it's covered!!

Less than 60 miles a month. If it ever sells I'm gonna get in quick and snap it up!

That's a bit like my Granddads car. I got it when I passed my test in 1997, the 1981 Austin MiniMetro had only 15,000 miles on the clock. That's an average of 1,000 miles per year in 15 years.

That's seriously low mileage, thought mine was low at 20k on a 54 plate.
