Nokia 6230

Featured Replies

Well, I'm in the market for a new mobile to replace my aging (and dying!) Ericsson T39M and I quite fancy the new Nokia 6230. I've had a play with the phone and it looks and feels well made, etc and all the online reviews seem to agree, however, I'm a bit concerned that the online reviews also say the software is very buggy. Is this true?

So really what I'm looking for is any opinions/experience of the 6230 before I take the plunge :D

Thanks, Chris

had no problems with mine until it went swimming!!!

a easy to use phone with all the features you could possibly want.

never had any problems with it being 'Buggy'

am due to get another phone due to accident with mine and having had the 6230 i'd go for the SonyEricsson K700i.

better screen, more features and feels better made.

but as usual it all comes down to personal preference.

What's the k700i like for sending SMS's? I've always had Ericssons but they all seem to lag badly when typing in an SMS message and I've been recommended Nokia's which are significantly better. Will have a look at one though..... thanks! :D

1 warning about the K700..... battery life is horrific!

youll be lucky to get 2 days out of it on standby... only apparently gets about 3 hours continous talktime.

ive got a nokia 6820 with a pimp-ass foldy keyboard.... technically its almost the same as the 6230 but without the memory slot, better screen or better camera :)

have heard that also i have to admit, but the 6230 isn't that good either, probably better than the K700i.

i'd say it'll go down to which is the cheapest to upgrade in the end.

The 6820 was the other one on my list, but I'm not sure I'd get on with that keyboard ;)

6230 is great, however one bug is if you keylock you cannot dial 999, only 112 and 911. Its the most complete nokia phone there has been. It has pretty much every feature of all previous nokias and some future ones - and wraps them up in one small phone. Battery is ok, in it, better than any ericsson ive seen although not as good as my 6800 which had a nuclear reactor for a battery.

Bluetooth is pretty good on it and the best one nokia have done. Transfer rates from nokia to nokia are quick, however nokia to ericsson are a bit pants.

I would say if you have had a nokia, stay, too difficult to move.

Thanks all. Not upgrading the handset, looking at a completely new phone and it will be a good opportunity to clear out my address book of phone numbers :)

I've always had Nokia apart from my current SE T610 which is fine apart from the display which is unreadable in sunlight. I am going back to a 6230 but will my (expensive) SE HBH65 Bluetooth headset be compatible with it?

Had mine for a couple of months now. Switched from Nokia to Sony for my last phone but moved back straight away.

Not had any problems at all with it or the software.

by the looks of it' date=' not unfort.[/quote']

Dont belive it. Bluetooth is supposed to be a standard, and whilst it does vary between some manufacturers, I reckon this would work with a Nokia phone. The only problems I have heard of are Nolia car kit based, only working properly with Nokia phones.

However, I have a Sony Ericsson full car kit that has worked with a SE T68i, a Siemans S55, a SE T610 and Motorola V500.

So my guess Denis would be that it will work fine m8.

I will keep my fingers crossed, Andy, and report back in due course. Now do I order my new 6230 before the end of this month to take advantage of Orange's offer of double talk time for 6 months - or wait until 30th October - having given 28 day's notice on my existing contract? (I'm just thinking out loud, not asking for advice...)

I've got a 6230 and I like it. Bluetooth is a bit underdeveloped on it, but haven't experienced any bugs. I'm not a heavy phone user though, so all I want in a phone is that it alerts me when I've missed a call... which the T630 I had previously didn't :(

Orange dont use it ..according to their web site.

I have just received my Nokia 6230 from Orange on their double talk time for 6 months offer which finished yesterday. Initial impressions of the phone are very good. And yes, the 6230 does work with my Sony Ericson HBH-65 Bluetooth headset.

Now you need to go down the pub and play the racing game via bluetooth with your mates. :D

I have found Nokia phones to be the most easy to use, but my Sony T68i from a couple of years ago had by far the best battery life.

I have just purchased a genuine Nokia DKU-2 data cable for my 6230 so that I can use the software which came on disc for it. I didn't have much luck with that software on SWMBO's Dell laptop when using an IR link to the phone. The rest of my family are now queueing up to save thair phone data to my PC...:(

Just make sure you install the drivers for the cable before you install the Nokia Suite.

Only gripe I've got with my 6230 is that you can't browse other phones ringtones, pics, media etc. over Bluetooth (like you can with, say the Sony Ericson T610). Otherwise, it's ace.

You can buy a USB bluetooth dongle for

Nokia 6230 is the best phone I have ever had, why do you need to browse other phones ringtones when you can use MP3's as ringtones. I have a vey early phone on 3,14 firware and never had a problem used three bluetooth headsets with it now, a Nokia, Siemens and Bluetrek G2 all without any problems. Also have the Nokia 610 Bluetooth Car Phone/Kit again no problems.
