Fabia TDi - 60,000 mile service

Featured Replies

Hello

I'm new to the forum and hopefully have not asked a question that is covered elsewhere!

I have just purchased a 2003 Fabia 1.9TDI, with 59000 mileson the clock. I intend to service the vehicle myself and would appreciate some help in telling me what should be checked / changed at this point (I've arranged for the timing belt and water pump to be changed later this week). Thanks and Regards

Wrong Mileage - should read 60,000 miles!

Hello and welcome :wavey:

Ask the same question on the Fabia forum, i'm sure you will get all the answers you need

Do you mean 60,000 mile service? I think so, so have changed the thread title from 6000. :)

I also moved it to fabia 1 forum where it will be more widely seen too. The "introduce" forum is usually just to say "Hi, my name is...." etc etc, and nothing technical. :)

welcome along

Oh, forgot to add that besides the cambelt, water pump & tensioners, 60k stock service is an oil, air & fuel filter swap. I think air filter is every 10k from new, fuel every 20k, and oil changed every 10k as well. All depends on schedules as well. 5w 40 oil is fine for regular changes. Ensure meets 505.01 spec, which Quantum Platinum that TPS sells does meet. Oil filters are cheap enough from dealers, as are airfilters, but I expect most motor factor do Mann (et al) versions which do the job. Fuel filter is about £20 but real easy to change, just a couple of surclips and pipes to remove & put on again.

What servicing was done last on your 59,000 mile fabia? It sounds below average miles for the year.

As far as I know 60,000mls is:

Oil Filter

Pollen Filter

Air Filter

Fuel Filter

Sump Washer

PD Oil

Cambelt and tensioner

Brake Fluid (every 2 years)

Thanks fot the reply. Not sure what was done at 59K, will check receipts, but main dealer stamped every 10K. Just want to make sure I'm starting off on the right track.

If it was serviced before you got it (worth checking) then it won't need doing again until 69k - 70k. Also a bonus if they did the timing belt too of course. Oh wait, I think I just twigged you bought privately, not from a dealer? :o

Yes, bought privately. Timing belt has not been done (this has been arranged) but want to complete the remaining service items myself.

Best to check the timing belt has not already been done at 2007 ie four years, so that may be a saving

Other than that others have replied what you need
