Skoda Superb wheels + suspension?

Featured Replies

I want the car to look good and I only drive less than 6000 miles a year. Im sure that it will be fine. Have you had any problems with yours Baker?. That guy with the black superb and RS8 rims had any problems?.

Going to get the tints done as well. I seen a very smart grille for the superb as well. But i think i am going to remove the large Skoda badges from the bonnet and the boot. I might have them replaced with something else. Also the steering wheel badge. Try to confuse people into thinking its something else. Most people have never heard of a superb.

No problems with my suspension, touch wood, and have been running them for over 80,000 miles.......

Tyres on the front do however get worn out quickly but then this is all part of lowering your car and it doesn't bother me at all, just one of those things.......

Lots of people have no idea what the Superb is with the badges on let alone with out but I am yet to see some replacement badges or grille that suit the car, not that I want to hide the fact that it's a Skoda........:P

Hmm, I spent hours cleaning the car today. It looks like a totally different car. lol.

I bought triplewax and washed the car. I thought that it looked clean. It did but then.

I dried the car off with a chamoix or whatever its called. Then I cleaned the windows with autoglym window cleaner in and out and mirrors too.

Then I used meguirs or whatever its called clay detailing kit. Used the spray then clay over it and wiped it dry with a microfibre cloth. WOW is it clean.

Then I used the meguirs wax applied with cloth then removed with microfibre cloth. Even cleaner. Car looks like its just rolled out the showroom.

I then used autoglym odour eliminator on all carpets, dash, roof, seats, boot. Smells nice now.

I then used Turtlewax leather conditioner to get rid of the spray from the odour spray. Seats are like new. I then opened up 2 neutrodol gel odour freshners one in the front and one in the rear. Car smells like new now too. No more tobacco.

As an added bonus the neutrodol had double sided velcro strips which came in very handy for my rear ashtray.

So now I am over the moon with the car. I may keep the 17s on the car and just buy a brand new set of tyres cos once they were all cleaned up they looked really good.

Will post pictures of teh car up tomorrow. I have had to park the car at a friends as I am scared to leave it in my usual parking bay.

I used the engine a bit today as well. A cheeky BMW 525 driver thought he would sit on my *** and then blast past me on the dual carriage way. LOL. I showed him up for sure. When he pulled out i nailed it and the skoda glided away and poor mr BMW driver had to pull back in behind the Skoda. LOL. Bet he wont try that again. Would be good to take the badges off so that no one knows its a 2.8 V6. Might give it a blast this weekend.

It would be very easy to replace the Skoda badges with VW badges. Surprised no one has done it. Not that there is anything wrong with owning a Skoda. I bet if you had VW badges on it people would genuinly think it was a VW unless they were in the know about cars. Would prob pass for an audi. In fact in some of the shots i took of the car from the front it does look very similer to an A6.

Hmm, I think someone doesn't want me to lower my car on coilovers.

...

Maybe you are regretting spending a fortune on bilstein shocks and sport springs and wish you had got yourself a set of coilovers to start with?:D

As far as I am concerned, you can remove springs altogether and ride on the bumpstops alone, or spend stlg1000 for proper coilovers with external reservoir :)

Buying Bilsteins and fitting them with OEM sport front / HD rear springs was the best decision I made over 2 cars and 6 sets of suspension, including Eibachs/Konis/Bilstein/OEM/OEM sport/OEM HD. I'd be equally happy with stock springs and Bilsteins B6, the changes in height were purely to correct front/rear slope when the car is fully loaded.

I routinely ride 130mph-140mph across Germany for hours a time, then I ride several hours on B-roads, and occassionally unpaved roads, with car loading ranging from driver only to 5 people+ full boot+ 75kg towbar carrier, so I'd say I have a fairly comprehensive view of how the car handles.

Also coilover kits are usually alot better quality than sport springs or shocks.

This is what I dispute, but again, if you have feedback from other users of this particular kit, go for it.

I care about ride comfort and safety. The car does not at all feel safe on corners it rolls and back end is loose. This is at low speeds.

The ONLY thing you need to fix it in full is to update shock absorbers (ok, assuming you do not have broken springs:rolleyes: ) - if you want to do it on budget, get any shocks that are stiffer than OEM. Recently, I bought shocks for Octavia at GSF after one of the Konis cracked and spilled (88k miles, rust), they were really cheap, monotubes, and VERY stiff. Just what the doctor ordered :) So there are ways of doing it cheaper than with coilovers.

No problems with my suspension, touch wood, and have been running them for over 80,000 miles.......

This is what I observed on the Octavia, after Eibachs sagged after 2 years/50k miles of use and the drop exceeded 40mm.

Lower the better.........

Can anyone give me any suggestions about the puddle lights on the bottom of the wing mirrors?. Neither of them are working.

Is it likely to be the bulbs or could it be the wiring in the door?. I fixed all the wires i could see in the passanger front and rear footwells. This is really bugging me. If I could get them working then everything in the car would be working. The glove box light isnt working either. Will check it though as could jsut be the bulb.

Parking sensors still not working though but I am fed up with these. Might run VAG-com see what ones need replaced. I noticed that parking sensors for ford galaxy, vw sharan and seat alhambra look identical to the superbs and have the same connector.

Just keep my eyes out for a set.

Please any help on the wing mirror lights would be much appreciated.

One other thing that is bugging me alot. I have a child seat in the back of the car. The seat belt goes across the base and then the car seat goes on top. You then pull the seatbelt round the back of the car seat. So the seatbelt si always plugged in. When I try to pull the seatbelt to take it round the back of the car seat it locks and wont let me pull it. Does it on both sides of the car in teh rear. Its really really annoying. Means I have to disconnect it let it wind back up then pull it out as far as it goes and somehow try to fit the car seat then pull it around the seat. Very difficult. Any ideas why it keeps doing this or how to avoid it.

Any one looking for a Skoda Symphony head unit and 6cd changer?. Anyone know roughly how much you think it is worth?.

Latest update. Was farting around with the car today trying to get the puddle lights working under the wing mirrors. Found a web page told you bit about it. So i took the wing mirror to pieces to have a look wiring seems fine. Then looked at the wiring up to the interior lights where the sunroof is as they are linked ot this. We stripped back the wires on the mirror and tried to connect them to a car battery to test the leds. Nothing. We then blew a fuse by connecting wrong way. :rotz:. So i replaced the fuse and now my interior lights no longer come on when I open the door or unlock the car.:thumbdwn:

Anything else it could be?. I replaced the fuse as the central locking didnt work either. It works now. The interior lights work when u switch them on but not when you have them to come on by opening a door. It might be when i opened the roof to look at the wires maybe i pulled and loosened an already shafted connection and it was enough to loosen it.

On the positive side I got my glovebox light working.

I also fitted an induction kit to the car. What a difference it has made. The car is much smoother and better throttle response. Car accelerates well and the noise above 3000rpm is very nice.

Also debadged the Superb and 2.8V6 decals. Just pish that my lights are on the blink. Car is starting to **** me off. My hands are all cut and bruised. WIll have another look tomorrow see if i can sort out the lights. Anyone know how hard a job it is to take the roof panel off in the interior to access all electrics?. Also does the superb have front pillar airbags? Incase i start pulling and an airbag deploys in my face:D.
