Shocks and Springs for VRS 52 Reg

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, was just wondering if you someone could help me out.

The front drivers side Shock Absorber has gone, but i am having great problems getting a replacement. I have tryed a few of the bigger online stores europarts etc, they say they the item in stock but the item isn't the right part, because i have a vrs the antiroll bar fitting are different.

I can get the right parts from the Main dealer but they want £140 (Shock and Spring) for each side (Parts Only).

Is this a good deal?

Does anyone know where i can get the right parts from, ideally pick up in the midlands area.?

you need to so both sides at the same time (ie pairs) however to be honest ideally the whole lot in one go as im guessing yours will be worn roughly evenly across the car.

time to fit aftermarket as would be an impovement over standard and to be honest you should do the springs too, ypu can buy a kit complete for less than original parts.

Do not buy none VRS shocks they will not fit correctly as they do not have the anti roll bar drop link bracket on them. They will also be wrong poundage. Try GSF car parts. Also if you were happy with the driving style and feel of the car, and not too many miles on it, then you could keep your original springs, to bring dealer price down a bit. These shocks are expensive so I would expect those kind of prices. You will find that from a suspension point of view there are not many options for the MK1 VRS. It depends on your bugdet and needs. You could upgrade to performance shocks like Koni, Weitec etc. Also these normally come as a full set. Most VRS owners find the standard suspension a little vague.

Hope you get it sorted
