Scratches help... Suggestions needed!

Featured Replies

My sister has a dark blue Mk1 Seat Leon and has had a problem with her front passenger door window for the last week, it could only be booked in to be fixed today, and as the window has been open about an inch she had covered the gap with masking tape. She went to take the tape off last night and because of the hot weather the adhesive was sticking to the paintwork at the top of the door.

Before I could get out there with a microfibre cloth and some Autoglym tar remover she had marched out to it with a scourer :eek::eek: and started getting the adhesive off with that ... unsurprisingly it now looks an absolute mess and she's heartbroken about it. The top of the door frame just above the window is covered with tiny scratches, similar to the scratches you see around door handles from jewelry. The car is in the garage having the window fixed today but when we get it back I was hoping we could do something about the scratches.

My question is, could they be polished out with a cutting polish? We have some T-cut somewhere but is that up to the job?

Sorry to hear about this mate and it sounds like a classic mistake............:o

You can try Megs Scratch X or fill the scratches with some AG SRP but I would suggest that ideally it will need to be machine polished out..............:thumbdwn:

I think I'll try Megs Scratch X first, read a few threads on here rcommending it. I think I then have to put collinite wax or something over the top as the Scratch X removes the original paint protection?

If it comes to the worst a mate of mine can machine polish it but I assume he'd need to do the whole car for it to match properly.

She truly is a clown for managing to do that to her car

Yeah Scratch X will remove any protection and depending on the paintwork condition on the car it may be worth running over the whole car if you have a friend with a machine.......

If Scratch X doesn't shift them, Farecla G3 will

i know someone that scoured their whole car....

(wasn't me btw)
