Making it different?

Featured Replies

In light of my creativity I've decided to modify the Octavia tastefully.

Still looking for some S3, A3 or Golf Recaros for the right price :thumbdwn:

But anyways my question is can I fit a instrument cluster from the facelift MK1 octavia with a screen in the middle that tells mpg and miles to empty, I currently have a trip computer telling me this but under the rev counter and you use the wiper stalk to control it.

Can I fit the cluster from a A3 or Golf, I like the dials better? I am aware they need coding to the key and car using Vagcom etc.

just want to know if it's possible and cheapish?

I don't think the screen in the middle was a standard feature on the facelifted Mk1, mine is a 2002 model and is the same as yours, the trip computer is at the bottom of the rev counter and is controlled by buttons on the wiper stalk.

From threads I've spotted before on this forum there was a MFD screen fitted in the middle on the Mk1s which had sat-nav, similar to the Maxidot on Mk2s/Superbs, which showed you the next direction from the sat-nav. not sure if this also gave you the mpg etc though... Would need someone with an Octy with factory fitted sat-nav to advise.
