bigger brakes? do they fit?

Featured Replies

Can somebody help me???

I have a modified octavia 1, 1.8t laurin & klement not the vrs. It needs a new set of brakes, on the front.

It has 288mm discs as standard but I would like to switch to a set of 312mm discs off an 180bhp vrs or seat 180bhp cupra.

Can anyone tell me weather my callipers are the same as on the vrs?

If they are I will get a set of calliper carriers from v-dubs. I don’t have a £1000 to blow on a set of brembos:(

+ Can anyone recommend a brand of updated disc??? Ive herd different reports from people about, blackdimond, tarox, red dot, etc ive been told just to put the larger disc on with red or green stuff ebc pads front and rear. Can anyone confirm this???

Thanks

Well as long as we're on the subject of brakes... How about bigger brakes for the 2.0l petrol engines? IIRC they're 280mm as standard, with FSIII callipers. Any chance I could just slap on the same 312mm rotors?

FSIII rotors will involve fitting the vRS outer hub housings, as well as the brakes themselves, due to the brake carrier being incorporated within the hub itself - no removeable carrier. The 288s might already have the removeable carrier, as the fabia vRS has 288s as stock, and they're removeable.

Just replaced my 288mm discs with 312mm discs on my 4x4 yesterday, used my original caliper with Golf4 VR6 carriers off ebay, £15 each:rofl: . Genuine old stock pads (Golf3 VR6 no wear sensor ) - ebay again for £22 , Jurid discs £49 . Bedding in nicely:)
