The new Jaguar XJ

What are people thinking? PistonHeads Headlines

I love it, i think the rear end is a grower but its just what the XJ range needed!

From the front lovely but the rear is ugly and can't see that growing on me.

Front has the family face, but is it different enough from the XF to mark it out as being special? I like the front end, but the back looks too "techy" for the prestige, slightly "new-retro" look they are aiming for, IMHO.

Overall, it gets a 7/10 from me. Maybe an 8 in the flesh...

I don't like it. I see what they're trying to do - drag Jaguar into the 21st century, but there's absolutely no class there whatsoever. You could stick a Lexus badge on the front and no-one would be any the wiser, or even, God forbid, a Toyota badge!

Looks like they are trying too hard imho.

Not at all keen :(

Shame, because the XF is stunning!

You miserable gets. I think its a great improvement and a very good looking car.

Elements of the XF, the VW Bentleys and even the Cit C6 but it all goes together very well. Line up the traditional alternatives to see boring, staid and characterless.

Me too!! I thinks its bloody lovely and I bet its even better in the metal , a big  from me!!

I'm a huge fan of the traditional style Jag XJ and absolutely hated the XF when it first came out for the sole reason of 'it doesn't look like a Jag'. However, that grew on me pretty quickly and I now just take it for what it is - a very good looking modern Jaguar.

Because I'm now used to the XF, I really like the new XJ. I like the back end - even though it looks like the result of a meeting between a Bentley and a Citroen C6 (both cars I like a lot anyway).

The interior though - I think that has to be the best production car interior ever. Luxurious, modern and full of clever technological stuff (as long as it all continues to work).

Straight to the top of my 'if I win the lottery' list!

Love it, classic Jag lines in some ways but with a XF modern twist

Oh Jaguar, what have you done. No wonder they lose millions. I'm sure you get my drift. For the record, whilst the XF is a very good drive, I'd take the Mundano everytime.

Love it, i'd have one of those over a 7 Series/A8/S Class any day!

I'll take the BMW M5 please, but then I'm obviously a miserable get for not liking it

I think it's great.

I love it myself.

Looks mahosive though.

I like it. The back is a bit odd, but it looks clean. I think it makes a change to see something different from the usual bland big saloons. All they are doing is BMW did 8 years ago in making their cars look different enough to stand out, but in a sleeker way.

You mean by not paying a certain American dto design a dent into every panel?

Another :thumbdwn: from me - looks like the 2001 Hyundai Sonata front-end has indeed become the 'family face'... Did Jag not think that there was a reason why BMW toned down the 7 series when it had its facelift, and why Japanese luxury cars traditionally have very restrained styling?
