Cumbo Skoda. Stoke-on-Trent has lost the franchise...

Featured Replies

So the 3 local Staffordshire dealers have now gone...

Why does it require a huge showroom to sell Skoda's

When the dealers seem to shift enough without them?

????

Cheers

Has this dealer lost the franchise totally or is it like mine, where they are now an authorised repairer.

The way Skoda are carrying on, it won't be long before there's no dealers left to sell their cars

Manny, Cumbo aren't listed on Skoda UK's site any more so it looks like they have gone for good. I have deleted them from the Reviews section.

Same thing happening round here (northants/bedfordshire). Got my first octavia from a long established little old fashioned back street garage in wellingborough (Frank Cook Motors). Skoda wanted him to spend a fortune on new upmarket premises which he would not do. He still sells secondhand skodas and services them but no longer has the franchise.

Got second octavia and current vRS from Forward Motors at Luton which was a large modern garage. A few months after buying the vRS, I had a query and could get no reply either by e-mail or telephone so rang skoda customer services to be told that Luton had gone bankrupt. I said it would have been nice to have been told. He said It must have been overlooked because I lived outside the county.

Then there's Northampton's Car-Nation. They gave up their franchise. That leaves Orchard in Northampton but in my experience they were not very helpful.

So, is there a Skoda garage open in Milton Keynes (Ross?) or do I have to go to Peterborough. It's getting so you need to arrange a day off work to get your car serviced.

So, if anyone from Skoda is reading this, I personally am not impressed by huge flashy garages that look the same whatever town you are in. All I want is that it is local, has comfy seats, car mags and a cup of tea while I wait and I can shoot back to work after the service has been done.

OK that's Mondays gripe over with - what's next?

I had the same experience when Forward Motors closed. I'm in MK, and Pilling opened just over a week ago. This was too late for my last service which I had done in Bedford.

Fabpreza, how was the bedford garage? Any good and what's the name of it?

Cheers

Skoda customer services need to sit up and listen.

The reason I left Renault was because all their local dealers shut leaving me with no main dealer for servicing - strangely the local Renault dealer became Skoda!

A few years later and there is still no local Renault dealer where will you go next Skoda?

Think carefully, flashy showrooms will not keep your customers if you cannot look after them - and Locally!

I'm not sorry to see cumbo go they were more interested in selling cars nationwide via brokers than they were in looking after repeat customers. I shifted to robert Eardley in Crewe a few years ago and got much better service.

And I second that. In fact, I prefer them (60 miles away) over my local dealer (0.9 miles away).

When I was looking to buy the fabia I have to say they didn't seem to interested in selling me one. *Sings* Maybe it's because I'm a Londoner!
