Grundig MS 201a - Bass Output.

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Having read all the posts about the Grundig MS201 tape receiver, I am now clear as to how that can be done , should I need to replace it. Thanks guys.

However, I am not clear whether replacing this head unit is the answer to my problem. Could you guys please advise? As if the standard speakers are not worthy enough to deliver, there would be very little to less effect after the head change.

I tried to adjust the bass on this MS201 and it just doesn't reach my standard expectations. I am sure, most would agree.

What would you suggest, change of head, change of speakers, etc.. any known tweaks for the sound..?

I wouldnt really like to go the subwoofer way, but am just looking for a decent bass output.

Any comments would help me arrive at a decision.

Cheers!

Change the head unit to an aftermarket one, and disconnect the rear tweeters (do a search on here how to do it)

That should give a nice bit of improvement.

You can change the front door speakers for some aftermarket 2-way components but then you're getting into the realms of sub, amps, 6x9s etc etc.

I changed the front speakers to a set of alpine e type splits, where a good price, fitted into existing mounts and didnt foul anything, tweeters fitted in standard mounting points too! made a huge difference to the bass response

If you're on a budget get a new headunit and speakers. If you have a little bit more, then get an amp as well.
