Constant sqeaking sound from rear of car

Featured Replies

Hi, I seem to have a constant squeaking sound coming from what seems like the rear driver side wheel area. It's pretty much constant, but goes away when going round corners.

Would anyone have any idea's as to what this could be?

My thoughts are either brake pads/discs, or wheel bearings ?

I know it's a bit of a vague question, but if anyone has any thoughts it would be appreciated.

Thanks

Sunny

Could be the rear bushes, they can squeak as they age.

If it's got a little rattle to it, could maybe be the exhausts shielding coming loose.

Last thought, it could be the rear seats?

Does it go away if you pull the handbrake on a little in a straight line?. if it goes you know its the brakes.

Could be the rear light lens rubbing on top of the bumper, I had this on my Fabia Vrs........open the boot and slacken off the screws that hold the lens in place and ease the lens upwards ( it will be only a fraction but enough to do the job ) then re-tighten the screws..........Sorted, hopefully.

Could be the bolt at the bottom of the shock absorbers has come loose

Definite possibility

Whip out the seats and grease the pivots

It's just a squeaking sound really, no rattles or anything. I did check the rear light clusters, and they are tight against the bumper, but took it out for a drive and did the handbrake and it's a bit difficult to say, as I only pulled it very gently at first from around 15mph, and it didn't really seem to effective

Gradually pulling the handbrake harder, but then you get the warning buzzer going off so it's a bit difficult to tell.

The rear discs do look pretty corroded though.

I don't think it'll be the breaks..they'd squeal, scuff or Moo really.

Did you check your rear seats?

If it's much more obvious over bumps where the car really ducks and it's started with the recent rain could still be the rear bushes. They don't like wet or cold!

To see if it's anything body related on the back pop out and just push down on the edge of the rear bumper a bit to get a bounce going.. that'll show up any light or boot related squeaks.

And check everything in the tool kit is seated right.

Next doors cat stuck in the boot!!
