Peugeot 307 CC

Featured Replies

Just got back from a week's holiday in the South of France where I was driving a hired Peugeot 307 CC. It's a nice looking car, with the hard-top up or down, and the electric operation of the hard-top is smooth and quick - I felt like the dog's bolleaux driving along the seafront in St Tropez with the roof down ! Also impressed that wind noise and getting buffeted by draughts wasn't too bad at all even at motorway speeds.

We were mostly cruising on the autoroute or on narrow twisty country roads -plus I was driving a LHD car on the "wrong" side of the road so whilst I never got to chuck it around properly it did creak and groan a bit when pushed hard around corners !

I was most disappointed with the 2.0L injection petrol engine though, it felt really sluggish, especially compared with the Octy vRS, but it even felt much slower than my old 1.6 Focus.

EDIT: Having just checked the Peugoet website I'm sure the model I had was the 138bhp - not the 180bhp - but it was - and I must stress this point - really slow !

BTW for those of you who responded to my thread about 3 weeks ago about choosing a new company car for my girlfriend she went for the new Audi A4 in the end - 2.0 TDI with the sports pack and a few other wee extras ! The Lexus, although cheaper, was way off the mark in terms of her tax liability as the emissions are horrendous !

Still think those 307's are absolutely pig ugly personally.

nice looker.

crap engine

crap handling

crap roof reliability

if was v6 rwd then would be sooooo much better...(and an SLK)

Yes but SLK is silly money.....

Oh...i dunno. Could be tempted with a lottery win... ;)

It is the new one, only problem is that we don't have a firm delivery date yet !

Re: the 307 CC, I really enjoyed having the roof down in the sunshine, wouldn't bother getting one here in sunny (?) Scotland !

I agree Paul.. hence for same money would go towards MR2 \ MX5 etc or 2nd hand jap stuff, not

but new SLK is lovely and comes with a v8!:D

..but isn't quite in the "

My dad is currently trying to sell me a mk1 golf gti cabrio, I have to admit it is fairly tempting there's something about them which is seriously cool, think it's the 80's retro thing it's got goin on and the fact that.... well it's a mk1 golf gti !

It's currently getting a bit of TLC as he got it for humble money, so I'll have a look when it's done, I'll post some pix soon.... thinkin of sellin me private plate so I can buy it coz i won't be able to put it on the car anyway ..... hmmmm

I'm thinkin that at a later date a 1.8T would go nicely in that golf ;)
